I have a negronne, hc, celeste and bt but never grew lsu purple. Could you explain the color of the ripening process? What I mean is is it a dark/light green ripening yellow or what color does it start out and ultimately turn into. Thanks

LSU purple starts off green turning lighter in color as it elongates in size. Then it gradually turns to a reddish purple and finally approaches a dark purple/black color as the fig ripens.

Do you think that figs that ripen green are less likely to be eaten by the birds? I think I read this somewhere but what are your thoughts?

The birds in my yard will eat any ripe fig they discover no matter what the color. However, it seems they do have a harder time knowing exactly when the green ones are ripe.
