Not sure, but I've heard about them being edible for humans.. pretty in salads. I wouldn't *think* they would be harmful but she maybe could call a vet to double check.

Thanks, Gnomey. I read they were safe for dogs, but my friend in England wonders if they are safe for tortoises. She had never heard of them and is impressed with my blooms. (She has obviously never been on this forum.. ggg) She has two adult tortoises and two babies tortoises (and three Pekingese). On warm days the adult Tortoises are allowed to wander in her fenced in yard. She'd like to get some daylilies, but of course she'd have to be sure they were safe for Rupert and Tara. Maybe daylilies are not common over there and the vet would not know? I thought those here would know about everything about them.

missylyn.. certainly if anyone would know I would think it would be some of the gardeners right here. I sit in awe of the flowers grown by them.
