Might be a Coleus but even if not most plants will do fine as cuttings. Keep moist, warm and in bright shade until you see new leaves which will mean it's well rooted. This is a good time of year for cuttings. josh

Hi Ash! Looks like your grandmother has a polka dot plant (Hypoestes sanguinolenta). They are really neat plants. I have a couple I grew from seed. They come in either pink, white or red. Yes it can be propagated by cuttings and seeds! :)

Yes,you do have a hypoestes. Maybe the only plant i'm experienced with.

They come in pink,red,white,reverse(colored leaf with green splotches).

They cant be propagated by leave cuttings,but by stem cuttings and seeds.Just put them in a pot and put a bag over it,that's what's worked for me.Seriously,one plant can give you two or three.

Humidity is a big factor in propagation,these things grow roots VERY fast.I mean the longest time it's taken has been 9 days.

Also,these are FAST growers.I have them under artificial lights and they just shoot up.Pruning as always is nessecary(sp?),because these get leggy over time.

Give them too little light,the leaves will turn and grow a solid green.Give them too much light,and the colors will wash out.

Pretty much an easy plant to grow,so ask her if you can have a stem cutting if you want one of these.
