That is a beautiful picture there, Will. Nothing to be ashamed of. hahaha!

    Where are they from?

LOL Will. Yes you do. You know they could have waited until spring and let someone else care for them.

So the car stays outside, huh?

Whaas, your jones is matched by your creative humour.

Pure gold, don't go to rehab.

    You're hooked.
    Fish on!

Yep...I thought I had it bad but I never purchased conifers in December.

That is a whole new ball game. Keep your fingers crossed.

    Merry Christmas.

    these are current???

why cant they be outside ...

pound in 4 stakes ... FAST .. before the ground freezes.. and set them inside ... and surround with burlap ...

against the north side of the house ... or for sure out of the sun ... and even better if you can keep them out of the winter wind ...

if current.. you are one sick puppy ... lol

no need guessing what you got for Christmas ...

Haha, it looks familiar, though mine were smaller at the time of purchase usually. Still funny that both of us 'Wills' had a similar conifer selecting strategy. ..."Yes, that's right sir, I said I'd like one of everything in your catalog....What? No I am not kidding, one of everything..."

If it makes matters worse(or better), I have set aside two conifers for you(the two you asked for) and one for Matt. We can work on a ship date maybe sometime in April?

Keep at it just remember to pay the mortgage and buy food once in a while - lol

Nice! Looks like some beauties there!

I sure rolled the dice hence the to be continued!

There are disadvantages and believe it or not, a few advantages of what I'm doing here. I worked closely with the owner @ Western Evergreen to get the timing right with full dormancy and temps. on my end. More details on that soon, so no judgments until then!lol!

I'll roll out a full update come June to let you all know how they're doing and talk abut the techniques and reasons why the plants are in my garage now and not spring. You all take the time to share pics on your amazing plants so I'll do the same!

I bought a house slightly outside of suburbia so I've been blessed with close to a 4 car garage with multple windows.

Individual pics and names to come during daylight. The pic looks goofy since its all flouresent lighting in there at night.

In the meantime I'm going to enjoy my conifer garage garden!

Will, sounds good! Matt and I have a trade so if he is cool with it you could probably send them to one of us.

the trick with garages .. attached.. in the great white north.. is to open the door.. any SUNNY day its going over 30 .. and leave it open at least an hour after dark ... the air does not warm.. like a roofed closed structure ...

IMHO.. a closed garage is at LEAST z7 [plus 2 for your z5] .. and maybe even eight ... and in 30 degrees can easily .. on a sunny day.. get up to 50 degrees or more ... TRUST ME.. i smoke in the garage all winter long ... its extremely balmy w/o the winter winds .... relatively speaking of course ...

its not that they dont mind the heat.. the issue is whether .. on a warm snap .. those pots decide to allow the root systems to come out of dormancy ... and then it flips back to a normal 12 degree WI winter ...

get some heavy duty thick plastic.. and some 2 x 4's .... lay out the plastic... staple to the 2 x 4 under it to basically make an impervious tray with an elevated edge to retain water ...

then .. lay a snowball on each pot ... if the snowball stays there ... you are maintaining a good dormancy temp.. if they keep melting.. well.. you lost your z5 ... NEVER FORGET.. the trick is simple .. GET THEM DORMANT.. KEEP THEM DORMANT....

the snowball only melts when the temps are right.. to dampen the pots.. w/o drowning them ...

i would still put them outdoors.. after they properly harden off to WI vs PNW ...

Believe it or not it was just as cold there then here! All the plants where frozen upon arrival.

Good tips by the way. I'm lucky to have an insulated ceiling (R50 baby!) so it doesn't warm up in there during the winter nor does it get sauna like hot in the summer like most garages. Plus its partially shaded from the south from those dense, massive Lindens I have.

You uncovered one of the reasons I rolled the dice!

Lovely specimens. You got some nice size plants there and they all look really nice. Merry Christmas to yourself!

Looks like santa came a little early lol... I really like Goold Coin & templehof. I may add those to my ever growing purchase list.

I think Pinus leucodermis 'Schmidtii' should actually be: Pinus heldreichii 'Smidt'.
I was looking into purchasing this and found some info on here from ConiferJoy. Just an FYI if you do name tags =)

Man, Will, you truly have gone off the deep end this year...and it has been a pleasure to see! Keep up the good work--your yard is going to look awesome in no time.

Love the nootka and the larches!

Superb procera specimens, already teenagers! 'Glauca Nana' is new on me, mid way between 'Glauca Prostrata' and 'Glauca' I'm guessing.

I agree. Love those procera. Thanks Will, now I have to add a few more to my wish list.

Is the Cheerio in the first two pics for size comparison? Joyeux Noel everybody and may 2012 be good to you and all your green buddies(and the blue ones and the golden ones too)!

Will, some nice additions to your collection!

Let me help you with some wrongly spelled names, before you'll start to make the name tags :0)

    Chamaecyparis nootkatensis 'Green Arrow'
    Must bin written as
    Cupressus nootkatensis 'Green Arrow'.

    Pinus leucodermis 'Schmidtii'
    Must bin written as
    Pinus heldreichii 'Smidtii'
First info was that this one was found in 1964, then it must bin written as 'Smidt', but furthur investigation gave me the info that it was found in 1926 so it must bin written as 'Smidtii'.

    Tsuga canadensis 'Gentch White'
Must bin written as 'Gentsch White'.

    Pinus parviflora 'Templehof'
    Must bin written as 'Tempelhof'

    Pinus koraiensis 'Jack Korbit'
Is a bad renaming for what is
    Pinus koraiensis 'Dragon Eye'

I hope I'll give you this info in time...

and neither my Pinus koraiensis 'Jack Korbit' nor my Pinus koraiensis 'Dragon Eye' has ever shown more than one or two needles with variegation ...

regardless of that.. the koraiensis form is spectacular ...

so dont get too wound up when it doesnt color up for you ...

try not to kill this brain cell at the Christmas party .. lol .. or new years eve

Will, was I in time? I didn't hear nothing from you since...

Oops, lost track of the post!

Thanks for the comments all. Look forward to getting updated pics in late spring.

Edwin, perfect timing. No tags but I did update my database.
    As always, thank you!

    Wow - those are fantastic!

Korbit and Tempelhof are quite magnificent. I need to kill off more lawn and plant them!

I've had 3 Gentsch White for approx 7 years now and they're less than spectacular for me.

I had someone tell me they look much better if you shear them regularly. True, or no?

    That's true.
Also is that 'Korbit 'doesn't exist, it's 'Dragon Eye' which I also mentioned above...
