I haven't had time to visit all the sites but just finished with Flowerlady's. I really enjoyed the music and quotes along with the beautiful pictures. They really bring it all together. great job.

I just recently made up an album of 2006 and I've linked it below. It looks like there is lots of great garden touring to do here this winter.

I always enjoy looking at others garden/plant photos. Here's mine, mainly documentation of my roses over the last two years, a little unorganized, some subfolders, most plants labelled, but lots of different rose varieties.

Hi again ~ I decided to take a stroll through everyone's websites and I was truly inspired by all of your gardens, your homes and crafts. Looking through your websites makes me want to keep on improving our humble cottage gardens. We cannot grow a lot of what you all can, so that's kind of disappointing, but I just have to learn about what I can grow here and appreciate what we have growing that you cannot grow where you live. There is beauty all over the country, we just have to stop and look.

Thank you all for posting your websites. It is eyecandy for heart and soul and ideas for our gardening bodies to get out and do.

    ****************

Pat Tea ~ Your roses always do something to me. They are beautiful. I love all the sweet statuary you have situated in your lovely flower-filled gardens.

Edna ~ I just love your happy gardens. Love the picture of white daisies and white brugs. Your front porch is welcoming. Beautiful roses and lovely, colorful flowers and veggies too. You've really created a lovely garden.

FlowerAngel ~ What wonderful roses you have and lots of other colorful flowers as well. Love your wide-open property and your wagon wheels are great bits from the past. You have a lovely place.

Crocosmia ~ Wow, what colorful, tropical blossoms you have up in zone 4. Just fantastic.

MrMorton ~ As always your gardens are a riot of color. Love your Halloween decorations too.

Tracy ~ What exceptional photography of beautiful blossoms from your gardens. What camera do you use?

Barb ~ What a fantastic home with such a wonderful porch! Love your pretty flower filled gardens too. Your quilts are pretty too. I've never quilted before but am getting a hankering to try to make one quilt.

Lisa ~ Wonderful daylilies and roses, love the butterfly shots. What a wonderful picture of the poppy about to open. You have so many different beautiful flowers, iris, salvias, poppies, etc.

Diana ~ Your gardens, home and countryside views are always a joy to behold. Looking forward to seeing your finished kitchen.

Mao tse mom ~ What a fantastic, colorful home and lovely gardens.

Shellva ~ Love your place. What a great veggie garden too! Roses are an addiction.

Dayle Ann ~ I love what you have done with your place. You've done a great job. Your little kitties are really sweet too. Did you decided to keep any of them? Am looking forward to seeing your house painted in those luscious colors.

Anne ~ For Pete's Sake, just when I've told myself I don't need any more roses, what do I see but picture after picture of breathtaking beautiful roses. They are so lush.

Libby ~ What a colorful fantastic cottage garden! What is the lovely whispy silvery plant in the first picture. What is the pink blossom that you have as your last picture?

Kathi ~ Beautiful flowers and crafts. You are one busy lady.

Michelle ~ Love your misty butterfly garden picture. Your place is beautiful.

Lisa ~ How wonderful to see your lovely place. I enjoy the roses I bought from you when you had your nursery and it's nice to see your home gardens and flowers. Love the shot of goldenrod with your old barn in the background.

Paul ~ Oh my gosh, I look forward to seeing your gardens next year, since this is how fantastic they looked in your first year. You've done a heck of a job, and your Linda truly is a beautiful flower.

I'm loving this! I haven't had the time to view everyone's sites but the ones I have are just lovely. Michelle - I just finished yours and I'm speechless! Beautiful! I'm in the process of putting in a large butterfly garden and yours really inspired me. I've only just brought in new topsoil so I have a long way to go. Actually, I think I have to many projects going at once...Oh well, a gardener's work is never finished! Thank goodness.

Wow! I've really enjoyed peeking into everyone's albums, and come January/February, I'll want/need to peek again! It's so neat to see what folks can do given the different zones, etc.

Here's my little playground in the hills of southeast TN. I probably need to update it further, since it IS a WIP. In case the dates don't show, the "In the beginning" album begins in Sept. 05... Linda

Natvtxn- if you look in the mid-summer album, at #10, you'll see both my supervisors!!! Gracie, the Aussie on the left, likes to supervise from atop my back, when I'm on my hands/knees in the garden! I haven't figured out how to get a photo of that yet. My silky boy could care less...

I hope I never have to live w/o a screened porch ever again. Mine gets used more than several of the rooms in the house. thanks for the kind words.

Pat Tea, what a great idea! I really enjoyed looking through everyone's albums. I love all of the gardens, but I have to say I extra love libbyshome. Your style is very much what I'm trying to achieve in my own garden...masses of color, paths, etc. I don't have any trellises...with our snow load in winter, those things kind of have to be contracted. Hopefully the garden will get to that point soon.

You guys are really nice on this forum. So here's mine.

    Thanks - S

I've been putting off this thread because there are so many gorgeous gardens to view! I started with MrMorton because his ice needles on another thread got me to check it out.

MrMorton, what wonderful gardens you have! I'm sure traffic comes to a stop to admire what you have. I see what looks like campanula cherry bells, I found it rather invasive, have you? Any tricks for controlling it? Because it is so beautiful. I love your combinations and the overall "happy vibe" that I get. It must bring you much joy.

I'm going to look at one or 2 albums a day, I'm way behind!

Bumping again! Definately a wonderful break today. It snowed this week, and now we're in the deepfreeze. We are getting bright, bitter cold sunshine with temps of -35 Celcius (-31 F) today! I needed a garden break :)

    last modified: 11 years ago

Balsam, I can't imagine what it's like to be -35 Celsius! We freeze by the time it gets to 0C (32F) here... I don't know how you people make it.

Thanx for the bump. This has inspired me. I've got a cold and looking outside I'm happy cuz it's a couple degrees above freezing and the rain has started and the 8''/20cm of snow will soon be gone and I can get back out into the garden.

Being stuck inside with snow and below freezing temperatures for the past week has got me going thru all my gardening books and this site and other garden sites for inspiration for the new gardening year.

It also got me to put my photos online after a half dozen years of procrastinating. It's really not all that difficult!! But I'd still rather be in the garden.

Don ~ great gardens, and I'm looking forward to see your transplanted garden when you've got it ready. It's wonderful to see what you can do there in Canada. I would never have guessed that's where you are located. I always think of snow and ice for your area, guess you must have warmth and sunshine some of the year to have the gardens you do.

    Hope you feel better soon.

The snow and ice I was complaining about are something atypical for winter here. Until the snow fell, I was out in the garden digging and transplanting and the temps were 10ish above zero. Then the snow fell, not strange for Jan but it actually has lasted more than a week instead of the usual start as snow turn to rain and winter stays green. 8 inches of snow on unfrozen ground is excellent insulation so the ground isn't frozen and rarely ever freezes on the West Coast even in Canada.

Just one week of being unable to get out and garden and I'm looking at people in the ''Winter Zones'' where winter actually comes for months of the year and I can't help but admire those with the ''gardening bug'' who can withstand so long without your fix.

Laura, I like what you've done so far with your hardscaping. I like the mix of brick path and stepping stones. Are you planning on putting some groundcover (like Step-ables) between the stones?

A general note to everyone: there are so many truly inspirational gardens here. As a dialup person, I appreciate your thumbnail-sized photos, because it's the only way I can look at anything. Larger photos just take too long to load. Thank you all for sharing.

Hi all. Been away from this forum too long. I love seeing all the beautiful pics. Here's some from my garden this past summer. They are mostly from spring and early summer because by late summer I am just worn out from the heat. So I will, typically, not spend too much time strolling around taking pictures by then. We are having a pool installed next month though so I intend to be outside ALL summer this year. Yippee!

Natalie, I used a "Walkmaker" which I believe you can get at Home Depot. You mix a bag of concrete, and pack it into the form whis makes about 9 "stones" then lift the form off of it and move on to the next one. We then put mortor in between each "stone". It's a good weekend project.
Flowerlady, That is an austin 'Spirit of Freedom'. I love it for the TONS of petals it has.

Theresa- I thought that was a walkmaker path. I got the brick walkmaker stamps for the areas between my raised beds in my veggie garden. I'll probably get the stone one this year as I really like the look of a bed (esp. a cottage garden) that spills out onto the path. That hardscape element seems to give a sense of order to otherwise wonderfully chaotic cottage gardens.

I haven't finished my project yet but I have a couple tips for anyone wanting to do something like this. First, put down weed barrier fabric between the ground surface and the rock substrate.

Secondly, don't buy the concrete colorant they sell for it at the big box stores. If you look up concrete suppliers in your phone book, you'll find a few places where you can buy the integral color as well as a release agent in a different color so it gives it more depth and realism. It is also less expensive to buy it in bulk than the colorant from Home Depot and comes in many, many more choices.
