Hoya from Nova's swap

At Susan's swap I received a beautiful variegated hoya in a large pot and several cuttings. Laura, did I get them from you? I was sure I would remember but as always I should have written it all down.

I haven't had hoya (hoyas? hoyi?) in many years and never in Florida so I could use a little advice on best growing conditions.

1. The cuttings went into smallish hanging baskets because I seem to remember that they won't bloom until somewhat potbound. Is that true?

2. And they like shade but bright shade. Right? While they are rooting, I have them in with orchids, mostly under a trellis. They'll get dappled sun around noon, but mostly it will be shady for them.

3. I used regular potting soil with pine fines mixed in. The cuttings were dipped in rooting compound first. I topped the baskets with orchid bark for mulch. Is all that OK?

4. What should I feed them? While rooting I won't give them anything extra unless you recommend it, but once started will they be OK with an all purpose 10-10-10 or should I use something that will encourage blooming?

Thanks!

Kate

The hoya baskets are sitting on top of the 3 bright blue pots on the shelf under the trellis. Good location until they root?
