Brunfelsia lactea - to prune or not?

I am groing a brunfelsia lactea from seed indoors. Now the seedling is more than one feet in height, hasn't branched so far. The new leaves are not increasing in size, so I guess the main shoot is now mature. Should I pinch the seedling or leave it growing so that branches by itself?

Thanks for your advice,

jim

I would just enjoy watching them grow. Let's think spring pruning instead.

You can always pinch the tip. The more leaves on the plant the bigger/faster it will grow.

Unless you don't want the main trunk higher than one foot, I wouldn't prune now -- these babies can be slow to take off, especially in fall when light levels and temps are falling off. I agree with Ankrara, spring's a better time to prune, because the plant will be much quicker to respond with new growth.

Thanks everyone. We haven't realy seen the sun in last 10 days, here in southern PA. The plant has almost stopped growing. I'd rather leave it alone till it starts growing actively again

Any one know how B.lactea smells?
