New Florida Forum Logo Image? (Look!)

One of our Florida forum members, jenfm, recently posted a beautiful picture of a heron. Several of us thought it was the perfect image to replace our tired old logo of the maypop (at the top of the page).

We tried to change the image a couple years ago and for reasons that are still a little cloudy we couldn't seem to make it happen. But other forums have changed theirs and I think it's worth a try, especially for a picture that captures so many of the wonderful things about Florida. It's got the wildlife, the Live Oak, a palm tree, beautiful flowering vines and even semi-tropical plumeria. What more could you ask?

It's an election year so take a look and voice your opinion.

Is it time to retire the Maypop and bring in the Heron?

YES!! That Heron is a beautiful picture!!

Works for me! Birds, flowers...the only thing missing is a snake! Haha. And since I know not everyone feels the same way I do about THOSE, I'll vote for this! Anything to get rid of the maypop!

    new logo NOW!

Marcia, I'm pretty sure there is a snake in there somewhere!
(If you were a snake, wouldn't you like to live there?)

I'm all for it. Let's bring the forum into the 21st century. I'm curious the history of these little cartoon vignettes, they seem so old-fashioned. If you want to see a really funny one go the Bees forum. There's lots of lovely pictures around though that look much more modern. I mentioned the asian gardening, it's one of my favorites. Clematis has a pretty photo also.

Get rid of the maypop...in with the new!

If you are checking out other forum's logos, take a look at Far North Gardening. It's a picture of a perfect pink rose blossom surrounded by snow. Very pretty.

I vote for the new picture. Out with the maypop, which certainly doesn't indicate "Florida" to me like the tropical looking heron picture does.

YES!! It's beautiful!! And so appropriate!

YES! Put Julie's picture as the new logo.

I vote yes... it is gorgeous

YES! What do we all have to do to get the ball rolling?

    YES, from me also!!

I'll say yes as well, but considering the drought we've been stuck in for so long, perhaps a cactus and a buzzard would be more accurate.

Or just hang a little watering can off the heron's bill?

I fully support the new logo proposal. The photo with the blue heron is gorgeous.

Oh Ricky, no buzzards, please, too terrifying for children, but cacti are beautiful. (Mine had 50 blooms this year.)

Kate, do you think we should email Tamara individually with our request to change the logo? Have you heard back from Tamara yet? Thanks.

I also vote yes, as this picture is so Florida looking.

I don't really care what it is because I doubt it will ever change. GAHHHHH!

I hate to admit it but Mistiaggie may be right. We've been trying to change it for 2 years without much luck. But I remain hopeful!

I don't know if it would help to contact Tamara at GardenWeb but on the Far North forum one of their members posted her email address when they were trying to get their logo changed and it seems to have worked. Maybe that's what it takes. She hasn't answered my email yet but sometimes it takes a while on subjects like this. She was great and responded very quickly though when we had a problem with someone on the forum sending threatening emails to other members. So when you really need her to take action quickly, she does.

For what its worth, you've got my vote.

I vote yes on the new logo also. The old one has to go!
