Can you use EPI wood for the superstructure?

Hi! We are about to do an IPE pool deck, and I am stumped about what color to use for the pool cover. Can I ask what color they used on this pool? Also, what is the color of the gunite/pebble tech? Thanks!

As long as the Ipe deck is not in direct contact with the water you should be fine. People usually either use a ipe as a coping or have a concrete coping that runs up to the ipe decking. Just make sure that your ipe has enough ventilation and the proper spacing for your location and moisture levels.

Widely used in commercial exterior construction such as boardwalks, piers and benches, it has recently become the best choice for residential decks due to its low maintenance, attractive color, and extremely smooth surface that has stood the test of time!

There is a company www.primewooddecking.com that sells a hardwood called Piquia which is used for framing that has similar properties to ipe but is comparable in price to pressure treated wood. We have had great success using it and are very happy because it is FSC certified.
