I wouldn't put rosemary in a self watering pot... It's fairly drought tolerant and you wouldn't need to spend much time watering it. The most you might have to water it, if it's in a big enough pot, is probably 2X a week in your area.

Oh, these kinds of pots are pretty good. They basically have a saucer built-in to the bottom (usually detachable) to hold a water reservoir.

Wal*Riech has them cheap.

IMO, not that great for rosemary, as it likes abusive conditions like dry soil. I keep mine in a big nursery pot for small trees and water it only if it goes a month without rain.

Thanks for the replies. Perhaps I'll just use the pot without using the self-watering feature. Got mine at the closeout store that used to be payless.

Have a bunch of these. Got them from Walmart. I use them for things that like constant moisture. I would not use them for rosemary or other that like dry conditions and no wet feet. I used them for mint, lemongrass, lettuce, cilantro. Did well. I like them because I use mostly organic liquid ferts like fish emulsion and seaweed. They tend to get a bit stinky. I take off the bottom every now and let them dry out overnite. I also put mosquito bits or dunks in the bottom to keep mosquitos from breeding in them.

Definitely do not allow rosemary to constantly dabble it's feet in water. It will keel over in no time flat. Excellent drainage is needed. That means no self-watering pots.

Use the pot instead for mint.
