Monday & Tuesday blooms

14 years ago

A few more that have opened...

CAVE CREEK CANYON - Lambertson - this one gave me heartburn this season. Did not increase and in fact looked half dead in May. Thought I would lose it but here it goes and starts blooming.

{{gwi:895267}}

{{gwi:895268}}

HALF MOON KEY - Petit - Blooms well above the foliage, lots of buds and scapes but doesn't like cool mornings. The blooms here SO FAR are more in the range of 5" instead of the registered 6".

{{gwi:895269}}

SMALL WORLD PURPLE PROFUSION - Miller - A nice tiny bloom, but this is not 36" scapes. More like 20. Good branching, many buds.

{{gwi:895271}}

WEB OF INTRIGUE- Stamile - it has gone into bloom overload.

{{gwi:895272}}

ENTER LAUGHING - Mason - the multiple bloom opening looks so good

{{gwi:895273}}

SEVENTY TIME SEVEN - Emmerich - blooms well above the foliage, many scapes and buds.

{{gwi:895274}}

My side garden bed is really filling in quickly. As soon as the front beds start to fill with more blooms, I'll post the daylily beds.

And since you all post pics of your pets and I don't have any cats or dogs (just those from the neighbors that come and like to run in the fields)here is our newest visitor which is a Snapping Turtle. Imagine my surprise when I went to open our side door of the garage and saw this lying there. He has been lying there all day trying to shield itself from the hot sun.He is big.

OR how about a fox? This was in my sister yard across the road from our place.

That is it for tonight. Hopefully some new daylilies will be blooming tomorrow.

    Wow, you have the greatest wildlife. I love the fox. Be careful of those snapping turtles they are mean and can bit off a finger. I love the garden shots, the garden is really very lovely. My favorite today is SMALL WORLD PURPLE PROFUSION. I love the color.

    Ok first of all, that fox looks bigger than I picture the size a fox should be. Not that I've ever seen a fox except in disney movies. :) If you have wildlife you must have deer, how do you keep them from eating your garden?

    HALF MOON KEY is gorgeous!

    SEVENTY TIMES SEVEN is also so beautiful every time I see it in pictures. It resembles Pure and Simple which I just got last year. Do you know if it's a better bloomer than P & S? I'm asking because I have limited space and can't have both so I want the better one.

    Thanks for sharing such lovely pictures. I love clump shots and garden shots!

    Oh, those Lambertsons can be so striking, but do let us know if it likes your zone. You seem about 10 days behind us in bloom, as my Web of Intrigue is now near the end (and there are no more Stellas). A pleasant virtual visit to your garden.

    OOOOOOH!! That's exciting to see all the creatures. The turtle's expression is hilarious.
    I really like the color scheme and edge on the Canyon one. :)

    Gorgeous blooms.I like CAVE CREEK CANYON, its very pretty,
    WEB OF INTRIGUE is my favorite. You garden views is really pretty, too.You have some nice pretty blooms in it. now, the Turtle.That thing can be very dangerous.If he ever gets a hold of you,it dont turn loose.They are abundant in South Louisiana where I lived for 15 yrs before moveing out. That fox is pretty.If you have fox around, you must have deer, too, or soon will have.,You might need to put up a electric fence to keep them out.

    You have tons blooming now, and your gardens are filling in nicely. Half-Moon Key is my favorite of this bunch. I love the photos of the fox. I only get to see them occasionally, so I appreciate your photos.

    Love the edge on Lambertson. My favorite is Half Moon Key. Web of Intrigue has a LOT of flowers, wow.
    Would never think that turtle could be dangerous! And I don't think I've ever seen a fox, for some reason I thought they are red. I wonder what's it looking for in the grass.

    WOI has over 22 scapes and is over maxed on its buds. Sometimes the over amount of buds hampers WOI blooms from opening fully. But it is still a gorgeous cultivar.

    Yes, we have deer. We have temporary fencing surrounding most of the garden areas but if they really wanted to come and take a taste, they could easily jump the fencing. We have alot of open fields so perhaps they have enough to eat...for now.

    The turtle is still here this morning so we think we may have to get the tractor with the bucket and scoop it up and put in down by the stream. I read on the internet how dangerous they can be if they are threatened so I have no desire to lose my fingers and those claws don't look too inviting either.

    I have 6 Lambertson's still here. 2 will bloom for the first time this year(WASHED WATERCOLOR,AWESOME APPLIQUE) after 3 seasons. I don't even know if the cultivars are what they are suppose to be.
    3 others bloomed magnificently last year(CAVE CREEK CANYON, CANYON COLORS,MESOZOIC MUNCH) after 2 seasons here and increased nicely and then this spring I could already see issues with those 3 struggling. I'm wondering if they lack the stamina to have alot of blooms one season and then come back and do it all over again the next season.
    The last one is BLUE-EYED BUTTERFLY which does great here. It just started blooming today.
    PURPLE CROWNED FAIRY died first season, got a replacement and that one died also. I'm not going for a 3rd time.

    Oh, Julia, all that ROOM. I would be in gardening heaven in your yard. Thank you for all the shots of your gorgeous flower beds. What an unusual color on CAVE CREEK CANYON but I'm actually not sure if I like it. Your WEB OF INTRIGUE clump is beautiful.

    The turle and fox photos are fabulous - they make me want to write a fable about the two. My favorite daylily photos are the Web of Intrigue clump and Seventy Times Seven, which was on my wish list from last year. It looks like a great performer in you garden, so I'm really considering adding it.
