No flowers on this tombstone, but they got the date wrong. 30th Feb.

Those stones are beautiful. Stone cutting like that is becoming a lost art. I could be wrong but it seems most of the flowers and foliage you see on stones and in old art work has some legendary meaning. Don't roses mean love and violets faithfulness?

I'm really into genealogy and visit old cemeteries a lot. Very interesting places but a little sad.

Hubby, especially, loves to haunt the grave yards/cemeteries to see the inscriptions, mostly
but some of the older headstones, etc. are really amazing!

I have some phots, I need to get from hubbys' folders--I'll have to do that tonight, maybe!

Cemeteries are interesting places. Some of those old stones really reflect the persons life. I like the old cemeteries with the above ground stones, but all the new cemeteries here have the stones flat in the ground now.

This past Memorial Day when we visited the cemetery I noticed how many graves had hostas planted on them, something I had not noticed before.
They looked good then and I haven't been there recently to see how they survive the summer without extra watering.
