Where to buy orchids?

My brother is getting married Aug. 9th of this year and he is having a very small beach wedding.

They only have 6 tables to decorate and they would like to put potted pink orchids on them. So being the plant person of the family they turned to me. But I know nothing about orchids.

Where is a good (and not to expensive) place in the tampa bay area to buy them? I heard there was a great place in Riverview/Lithia but can't seem to figure out where.

I figure I will probably buy them the about a week before the wedding to make sure they have plenty of blooms.

If you get stuck, Phal's at the box store are around $10.

I found a great place recommended by another patron at Lowe's while we were both admiring some of their orchids. It is called Everlast Orchids and it is wholesale/retail. It is a bit of a hike it is a few miles north of 52 on US41. This is Masaryktown I believe. Mostly Phals for as far as the eye can see and some Cymbidiums as well. Also some amazing cut orchids for centerpieces. The Phals were only $5 and were the size of the $20 orchids at the box stores. Amazing and your mouth will hit the floor but you really need to make it worth your while and take the drive when you need to buy a few or more. Good Luck...Joe.

Ariel, email the south tampa orchid professor (at his website) and he'll get you in touch with some growers. I think dendrobiums would be the best for the tables, tall enough to be seen but thin enough to not take up too much space. Phals have a habit of being quite wide in the leaves (my opinion).
