He may not have been sick. He could have had a heart attack and was fine up until the very end.

Such a sad day in the hoya world.

This is definetly a sad day for the hoya world. I may not have known him personally, but I know from research that he provided me with vast knowledge and insight to these wonderfull plants. My condolences to his friends and loved ones.

I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news online last night. Because of the time and energy that man put into Hoya research we were all able to grow and learn about these wonderful plants.

This is truly a sad day for all who grow these plants as I am sure every one of us has a connection to Mr. Liddle through our plants.

Mr. Liddle died of a heart attack. His father died from a heart attack, also.

He had visitors at the nursery on Saturday and was just fine. His wife found him dead Sunday morning and it was too late to try and do anything to save him.

Sad news indeed; I never ordered from him, but see here so many of you have.

Well, if one's gotta go, that's not a bad way to have it happen; swiftly & painlessly (presumably) (rather than lingering & long-suffering).

May he rest in peace & may all who've ordered from him enjoy his/their Hoyas.

Carol Noel, from Hawaii, posted on another garden forum that Iris, David's wife, has run their nursery previously, so she assumes that the Liddle nursery will continue to operate after she has had a chance to recover from the loss of her husband.

David was a wonderful man, an inviting host and friend I didnt get long enough to know.

I had the opportunity to spend 3 weeks with David and his family last April. He spent a the whole time teaching me things and showing me how he did what he did.

    I will miss him:(

Very sad news...although I've never ordered from him before, I've read so many posts from happy hoya customers. Always had wonderful things to say about him and his very vast knowledge of hoyas! I'm sure the hoya world will truly miss him...

A sad day not only for David's family and friends but for Hoya lovers across the world!
I have through the years ordered a few times in group orders to David and also emailed him with questions about this Hoya or that one. David always emailed back with gorgeous pictures and an in depth answer to my question.
Possibly after grieving Iris Marie will feel like continuing with their Hoya dreams.,,,,Debbie
