Any Central FL folks interested in owning a pig?

OK, so it's not gardening, but kind of related... they eat stuff we get rid of. I've put this on farming and homesteading also, but those forums don't get as much milage as this one does. I'm asking because I have a person who found a baby pig, bershire I think she said, on the road. They tried to find owners. They have raised it, but more like a pet. Where she lives, she is not supposed to have pigs there. Like wainting for zoning to bust her. Anyway. She will give it to a home who won't eat it, but raise it to have babies with, you can eat them. Yes, female. See, it grew up with the dogs, plays ball, etc. Likes kids. It is about 6 months old. She doesn't want to see it as food since it is so pleasant. Saint Cloud area if anyone is interested. Email me or inquire here. Thanks to all.

I wanted to let you know that I gave a friend of mine your email. She may be interested in the pig. Her husband lost a pig last year that they had as a pet and may want to get another one. They love animals and have quite a few.

countrynest - Shame on you! lol

Hey pres-you have a photo of piggy, I sure wish I could have it. We had pigs and piglets as kids and loved them! Of course we lived on a farm then. Piggles would follow me around just like the dogs, chickens and ducks!

springtime, thanks so much. The person who has it owns the "beauty parlor" for my doggie, well that's what I tell my dog when she is going to town for her bath, get her nails done, cut her hair, see her friends! My dog has it better than me! Ha Ha. Somedays after being outside with the yard and such, I could use pampering like that too!

I'd like a sheep. I'd have it clipped to look like a poodle and while it roamed around the yard eating grass, I'd call it Fifi so my neighbors wouldn't know it was a sheep. You see we're not allowed sheep in our city.

Barbcoleus, sheep are not easy. I had a small flock that I planned for, that would crop the grass. Instead they ate my fruit trees, shrubs and grape vines. They ignored the lush lawn totally.

They "would" eat expensive T&A hay, grains, and Peanut hay.

They had to be clipped, dipped, wormed, and have regular hoof trimming. They hate any kind of touching, so any treatments were a battle.

They were extremely noisy. My husband couldn't take the constant "baaahing."

I loaned them out at X-Mas for live Nativity Scenes at a local church.

They were a big pain in the neck.

I placed them all in pet homes. I won't own them again. Cute, but very dull-witted, and high-maintainance.

Turkeys are much better "farm" pets. Sweet and gentle.
I've never had pigs, but I get to listen to, and smell the neighbor's pigs. Ugh!

Lisa you have dashed my dream of a lifetime :)
I've never had any farm animals. I'm a city girl born and bred in the Big Apple. Those sheep sound remarkably like my Persian cats.
If I had turkey I would be eyeballing it around Thanksgiving and it would be a hard decision.

Had a good laugh at that pig picture on the barbecue

Hope you find a good home for the pig

    Cute story

A while back,my sister's boyfriend in Deland hit a baby pig with his 4 wheeler. He brought it home and nursed it back to health.
There's now a pig the size of a Buick in her back yard!
