Sow LOT's of Seed??--A Quick Tip to Make it Easier

So if your growing for market that means lot's of seed.

144 (or maybe larger) cell packs, long rows, etc.

Doing this by hand can be very labor intensive and tedious work.

Of course there are expensive devices available, seed drills, vac powered devices and such but for a small grower this can be impractical.

I saw a hand held vibratory seeder in a catalog but it was $80.

So I puzzled it out a bit and came up with a homemade variation.

I posted a How-To article a few days ago on the site linked below.

May be interesting or usefull to some of you who grow on a larger scale.

thanks for posting that, it's a very cool idea. I'm going to try it today. I use mini blinds for plant tags anyway. It's pretty cool to be able to change out the mini blinds in the house each year so they're not dirty, and get plant tags at the same time :)

What a great idea. I have one of the $80 seeders (I got it for free) and I have to say I don't like it. But I use soil blocks and not speedling trays (or wotever)

I use one of the green plastic hand seeders that cost around $3.00 for my indoor seeding but it does take a lot longer to do a flat but also I am not spraying seed all over the room either

My indoor seeder is two boys, 8 and 10. Since Ive started homeschooling them I made it into a science project and I am going to grade them on it, hehehe :0)
