Hmmm, having been in a similar situation not too long ago I will say it was more difficult than I originally believed.
1) I would suggest you contact the librarian who is in charge of the Woods Hole plant sale and offer the magazines to be sold at the plant sale to benefit the library. I think what is key is finding your target audience (gardeners) and offering them for sale/donation at a related event.
2) Carry a large tote bag and quietly leave a stack behind in every doctorÂs office in town.
3) Convince WG that she should have a garden related item/gift swap during the plant swap and then come up with an excuse to leave early.
4) Convince a gardening friend who is putting in a new bed that your magazines make the perfect weed barrier with the added benefit of being able to read related material as they work.
Now what you didnÂt share is what you plan on filling up the soon to be empty shelf space with!! So what is the motivation?

The library I work at takes magazine donations to put in our book sale, although I do think recently we have been not as eager to take them - for what reason I'm really not sure. I would call your local library and ask.

Also, I offered some gardening magazines on freecycle last fall and couldn't believe the response I got! I felt bad that I didn't have more to spread around!

Thanks for all the ideas, guys. The motivation is that my garden bookshelf is overflowing - as are all my shelves, and there are stacks of books all over the house - just no room for old magazines (plus I finally accept I'll never go through these).

Oddly, just before I posted this I had a GW-originated email asking if I wanted to unload all my old Organic Garden magazines; that's the one publication I don't have.
