WOW! That's the first I've heard about it but now that I'm out of the retail end of the industry, I'm a bit out of the loop.

This is really too bad. It was a great show and a very welcome relief in the middle of our dreary February. I've only missed one in the last 21 years.....I had the flu last year and just couldn't get it together.

Hopefully a buyer will come forward before it's too late. I for one will miss it if closes for good. Looks like the San Francisco show is closing as well.

I got the news from gardenrant.com. These ladies got it going on if you're into plants.

I think it will be very unfortunate if this is the end of the Seattle garden show. I don't go every year, but I've been there often enough to appreciate it a lot. Nothing better than to do this big garden show and the city with a bunch of close friends as a mid-winter getaway.

I wasn't planning to go this year, but I might change my mind about that just because it could be the last one.

Well, that's a shame---
I've looked forward the the NWFGS for years, and will hate to see it go...
I REALLY feel for the many vendors who rely on that income every winter.
Another sign of the times, I suppose.

It's not just the economy.

What a bummer, I have never gone because I was a florist and the timing was always too close to Valentine's Day but I had hoped to go now that I'm not a florist anymore.

That's why they're ending the show: now that you can go, they are going to take the opportunity away.

I'm never going to go anymore but often end up being lured into it after it starts. After this year I will not have that problem.

Probably many of the participating businesses are going to be killed by the times ahead anyway. At a recent small party attended by a dominating percentage of people in the industry about half were doing OK and half not.

It occurs to me that the main thing I was getting out of it was talking to other people with similar interests. I used to belong to multiple plant societies and re-joining some of those would be a way to get plugged back in after the show disappears. So others may be able to fill the hole it leaves by doing likewise.

This would also solve the problem of the show being only once per year. I used to go to it and get jazzed, only to have nothing else like it come up again until the next show.

Assuming the Tacoma show and others will be continuing, I wonder if some of the Seattle activity is going to move to those.
