You can call a local drilling company and they can tell you the cost. The last time I checked it was about $13.00 to $14.00 a foot, plus casing and sealing. They told my the pump and installing would be up to me and the cost I should expect would be in the $2000.00 to $2500.00. They can even tell you about what type of water to expect if they have drilled a lot of wells in your area.

I live in the edge of Arkansas and the cost were from a couple of years age.

We do have a lot of dense rock to go through.

Be sure to have your well water tested for alkalinity--you can do it yourself with litmus paper, available online and in some garden centers. Several years ago, I killed blueberry plants and stunted potatoes with very alkaline well water. The soils here in extreme eastern Ok are acid so it took a couple years, but we no longer use well water to irrigate. I don't know how alkaline the ground water and soil are where you are, but these are important things for gardeners to know.

Thanks so much for the quick response. It looks like there is a well on the property that produces 5 gallons a minute so maybe not enough for gardening. : ( Looks like we will have to make use of rainwater for the garden.

We're no longer in OK but we had one drilled when we did live there. It was about... five years ago? Down in LeFlore County. It cost about $1500 and I think it ended up being about 150'? That included equipment (pump, etc) -- but we got a massive deal on that because it was used and the fella was a friend of sorts.

Ours wasn't terribly productive, either, so we watched usage very closely, especially during summer, and supplemented with rainwater.

Five gallons a minute is 300 gallons an hour and 7,200 gallons in 24 hrs if it produces that much consistently. My father bought a water tank (tower type) and put a timer on his extra well and pumps into the tank. From the tank the water gravity-flows out to the garden by turning the handle. Five gallons a minute is about what our rural water puts out at the end of a hose with the faucet turned on full. (We are at the end of our line.)
