So cool. I saw one today too, but it was flying in town. I haven't had one visit my feeder this year. I would love to see a painted bunting again. Have only seen one, a male, once in my life.

Cool. I love Orioles. They are supposed to love and be attracted to Orange slices and grape jelly. It has never worked for me, but has worked for some that I know.

I am waiting to see if my Painted Bunting pair come this year. For the past 6 years I have had a pair come about the Rrd week of May. They stay for about a month then they leave. I will try to find the pics I took of them one year.

I am jealous of your oriole! I love them so much. I had several pairs nest every year at my old home but never had one since I moved. Did you have them before you put up the feeders? I've never put up feeders for them, they just showed up. Three years in a row they made nests on the same branch in a tree in my front yard. They found some string from a blue tarp, and they'd use it every year to build their nests, which made the nests very strong and they really stood out. One year we had winds in excess of 80 mph and I was worried sick about those poor little babies. After the storm I was outside with a flashlight, searching the ground for the babies. Darned if the next morning they were all in that tarp built nest, still alive. I was thrilled they survived the storm.

The following year one oriole built a nest on a limb that was only five feet off the ground. We joked it had to have been one of those babies from the wind storm that was brain damaged. :) I sure miss those birds since we moved. They seemed like old friends. Thanks for sharing your picture.

I saw TWO male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks at my feeder yesterday but haven't seen an oriole here yet. Also had over a dozen goldfinches fighting over the feeder. Haven't seen an indigo bunting yet, but the bluebirds seem to think the new greenhouse was built for them. Evertime I go in there I see one or two. There are no doors on it yet so entry is easy.

And on a sadder note, saw a killdeer on a nest with four eggs right at the edge of Dad's pond before the flood of last Monday. She did the broken wing act for us when we were fishing there. We moved off a ways and she went back to her nest. Then on Wednesday saw that the area she had nested in was submerged. I suppose it's early enough that she can start over.

Saw my first Baltimore Oriole on May 30, 2011. Seen every day. Using my hummingbird feeder. Have a picture. What a beautiful bird.
