My first blooming Lycaste

Lycaste macrophylla.. I got the plant not really caring for it - an orchid buddy had an extra seedling, and she sold it to me for 6 dollars.

I have always wanted L. skinneri, but with warm growing conditions, settled for macrophylla. Planted it in straight sphag, and forgot about it. Until I saw buds :)

It is fragrant - what a surprise! And the flowers are much larger than I thought..

Now, where can I get Lycaste Balliae (skinneri x macrophylla)? Sounds like the best of both worlds...
