you run and you run to catch up with the sun but

ITS SINKING!

Damn clouds. We hit 89 yesterday despite it being cloudy until about 4:00 and the clouds are back today. WE're getting great growing weather as we are supposed to be in the low 90s through Saturday (93 they are saying for Saturday)but between the clouds and the sun getting less intense with each day my palms just aren't growing like they did the first week of July when it was sunny and low 90s. They are all growing and I am greatfull for the tropical weather but I do see a difference. They "promiss" sun and 92 for Thursday and Friday so maybe things will pick up some. All next week though is low 80s, sun and low humidity (which will feel great but slow things down further). It is a race agianst the sun (and clock). I was hopefull that all emerging fronds would be completed and new spears started before I have to move everything in sometime in the next 8 weeks.

Yup, my melons are doing great this year, and they have a lot of flavor, but not as much sweetness as I think they should have. I think this is due to the fact that it's cloudy or partly cloudy most of the time. The good news here is, I'm just cutting them into chunks and sprinkling some Slenda/Sugar blend on them when I eat them. I can add sugar, but I couldn't add flavor as was lacking last summer in the cold.

You know that fall is coming when you're already starting to plan for next years yard. I dont know if Im the only one who has already done this, but Im starting to already see what Im planting in the yard for next year and where everything is going to go. But most of my plants are growing better than ever so they havent taken a hit from the shorter days. Cooler weather is on the way here too (Not every day is in the 90s anymore) but fortunately no daytime temps out of the 80s and no night time temps out of the 70s. Summer is really almost over and its sad since it went by so quickly. Fall and winter are my least favorite seasons and my plants arent so crazy about it either!
    Good luck!

    Tropicalzone-
I haven't been planning for next years yard but I have caught myself thinking about what plants will go where and it what windows. What position I will need to put them in to get the most sun.

I was wondering if there were any other Floyd fans out there. Despite the fading sun I've seen the fastest growth all year because of the very high humidity. Today will be ith though for ahile. It is 78 with adew point of 72 at 8:45. On our way to 89 but down to 63 tonight.

Still hot, dry and sunny here. Been like this since April 1. Sun felt felt more burning today than back in June and July. Palms growing but not as much as in a normal August (which used to feature a lot more rainfall)--August has gotten much more arid over the years. Winter is much rainier than it used to be though. Watering by hose just is not the same.

I dug this up to see what it was like a year ago. Days are shorter agian. We are supposed to be in the mid 80s for about a week, then high 70s. I am still seeing growth but it has been way cooler then this time last year and cooler then the 1st week of August.
