Laminar ceiling mounted faucets are all the rage and very cool. Your controls can be on the tub deck with a diverter for a hand-shower to clean the tub. As it would be a pain to clean the tub with the laminar ceiling fill being your only source of water.

If you are considering a free standing tub. Which I would for even more drama. You would have your controls on a nearby wall or build a small architectural element that would stick up next to the tub where you could have any controls you wanted.

The filler is relatively cheap. The plumbing is a whole other kettle o fish.

Thanks Nick. I hadn't considered the issue of cleaning the tub, that's a great thought. It will be a freestanding tub so that's important. We had planned to put the control on the wall so will talk to the plumber and see if a hand-held would be easy to install there as well. Thanks so much!

Will the tub be part of a Wet Room or will their be a shower curtain around the tub?

There is a separate shower. No shower curtain around the tub!

I would use a discrete handshower like the Kohler: Shift in order to let the tub & filler party trick really stand out.
