The cove lighting was a simple rope light recessed into a simple cove. It's not that bright but is great for giving off a warm ambient glow.

Thank you- since asking this question we had researched and installed the LED tape lighting for our application. Works excellent in so many situations with a minimum 3/4" space allotment...dimmable, no heat and minimal energy consumption.

Glad to hear. LED gives much more light. We use that on many jobs as well.

Because the LED diodes produce no heat, It has turned out to work well for our undercabinet valance lighting, our soffit lighting, our display cabinet lighting, our stair edging lighting- extremely versatile, very easy to install, minimal electrical requirements, and has given us the same "warm white" light finish throughout. it was a great find, and we will definitely use it on our next project as well. The electrical contractor purchased a roll of a 1000 feet to reduce his cost, which seemed like a large outlay at the time, but, because we have used it in so many applications around the house, the cost has actually been very reasonable. Would highly recommend others looking into this type of lighting- help bring those wholesale costs down...it certainly will be the way to go in the near future....
