Splitting tomatoes is almost always due to inconsistent watering. What happens is that the tomato plant is on functioning with a lower water level, then suddenly gets an influx of water and the tomato can't expand its skin fast enough to compensate, so it cracks. Watering can be a fine balancing act. My tomatoes are in the ground, so what I do is pick any tomatoes that are ripe or near ripe, then water deeply.

Incidentally, tomatoes picked before watering usually have a much better flavor than the ones picked after watering.

As to the yellowing of leaves, that can be due to a number of problems. You don't say if you are growing in the ground, raised beds, or in containers. Can you post pictures? If so I am sure there are several people on here who can give you an opinion on them.

Bets is right on Mrs R. We need much more info on how you grow your tomatoes, description of the symptoms, and how and when they develop to narrow it down.

There are a few fairly common tomato diseases that can develop later in the season with dry yellow leaves as a symptom but there are MANY simple-to-solve growing/cultural practices that can cause similar symptoms.

So much of the time it is the how-you-grow, how you feed, water, how close you plant, what types (det. vs. indeterminates), whether it is in-ground or containers, etc. details that leads to the solution. ;)
