I thought I'd discovered my first nearly-ripe tomato, a Brandy Boy that had broken color this morning. So sad, it had a big patch of BER not visible until it was turned over. I tossed it since there are plenty of others getting ready to ripen.

So congrats on your first mater! My salivary glands are acting up at the thought of it.

I KNOW the DTM just isn't reliable! I planted two New Girl tomato plants, supposed to be a better-tasting variety and producing at the same time as Early Girl. But I think the Brandy Boys, the Big Beefs, and the Cuostralees planted at the same time are ALL going to ripen before the New Girls. I also wonder why 69-80 DTM given for Early Girl and New Girl is considered to be "early"!

Early Girl- I have the Early Girl-50- 50 days until maturity. Planted in a TT on April 23rd and at last count I have 8 tomatoes getting bigger every day.

Interesting. I planted a cherokee purple, lemon boy and yellow pear at the same time. The cherokee purple is the only one out of the 3 to not have any fruit ripe yet. They are on there and growing, but still green.
