Mealworm Question

My nesting pair used to go to my meal worm feeder every day. Now they won't go near it after a robin set up on the fence nearby. How can I entice them to the feeder again especially as they are raising 5 babies closeby?

Lornas, There may be enough bugs out that they do not need the meal worms. If your babies are very young they wouldn't feed the meal worms anyway. If they really wanted the worms they would try to run the Robins off. Do you have an actual "meal worm feeder"? I have one that has the plexi on both sides and the holes for them to get in. I took one of the plexi sides out. The Robins feed on the ground under the feeder where worms have been dropped. If the Blues REALLY wanted the worms they would get them.

Lisa is right lorna. If they really wanted them, they would get some. You can buy an enclosed Bluebird feeder for mealworm feeding, and the Robins can't get inside.~~Angie
