Who went to the Botanic garden sale?

I did not know it was held inside :) boy, was I thankful for that. My back was really hurting this morning and I didn't know if I was going to make it if I had to stand for an hour in line.

I'm going back to look around it is beautiful at the Botanic gardens.

Anyway I was somewhat disappointed in the daylily sale, they did not have many to choose from but I came home when Eye On America, a seedling and a freebe unknown.

I went to the iris sale too and came home with more irises than day lilies LOL. I got Foot Loose, Rippling Rose, My Darling Scatter Brain, Pretty Flouncy, Hawaiian Surf, Accent and one more but don't remember the name, ho yeah it's Speeding Again LOL, a beautiful dark blue.

I also got a spider lily naked lady, and a pink coneflower. I have the purple and yellow and love them so I'm sure I'll love the pink.

BTW, I see the expanded bed getting bigger :)

PJ If you like irises this is a great place to get some. Prices were good starting at 4 dollars and up.

I'm not going to get many irises but thought they'd be pretty to have here and there. Although they most likely will not have blooms on them till the following year.

I sure hope it will look good cause I'm paying for the work I did the other day :(
Wish I could hire to have the rest done or DH or DS finish the work for me but I'm on my own to finish it.

    Hi Barb,
I did get to go... the BF and I went, then on a romantic walk through the gardens (it was still early morning - not too hot yet), then lunch at the cafe on grounds...

In my mind, I thought there would be more... more plants, more variety, more people - but I was happy to be able to talk to some local growers, and I came away with 11 different plants (including that bonus mystery plant). I emailed Dee, the president of the DL club that was hosting the event to see if she knew what plant(s) that was. I am surprised that you didn't get more... there was a HUGE box of reds - and I know how much you like the reds... :o)

I was going for pinks and purples - watermarks. I don't really like dark eyes that much, but ended up with Gillian:

I also got four seedlings... so we will see how those come out - $3.00 - can't really go wrong.

I didn't get to go, which is probably a good thing for my DH as he'd probably have to dig another bed! LOL I just recently got some daylilies for postage and some daylily seeds of 4 different kinds, so I think that's enough for now. In the spring, I might change my mind! LOL

Y'all know that this was just the daylily & iris clubs, right?

    The Botanic Garden Plant Sale is in October;
this is the big sale with lots of different kinds of plants.

Be sure to get there early; things just vanish!

I go to the sale every year ( my in-laws are big in the Cleburne Iris Society). To get the best selection onf DL you have to be there when it opens and know what you wanting...they go really fast. I got 2 (my usual per year of big $15 ones) Hidden Riches (yelow) and Bubbling Edge.

One of the promenent Iris Sellers was selling all his stock at 1/2 the marked price - he only sells 2000 and newer - so this is a wonderful deal. I got Holly Kosmoly, Prince of Tides, Starring, Heartstrings Summer, Creme De Ore and another Rush Hour (my personal favorite).
I spent $30 on DL and $14.00 on Iris...cheapest year yet for me, but I'm running out of room!

ON a side note...I've been splitting my iris beds over the past few weeks, if anyone else is too and would like to trade I would love to hear from you. I posted under have on the exchange board, but my only responce was someone wanting me to attend their garage/plant sale ather than an interested person in trading.
