Sometime between April 3 and 7.

This is my first trip there and I'm really excited to go!!!!

I'm going on the early end this year because I can't go the first two weekends of April and we're going to herp either Northwest Arkansas or Kansas for my wife's birthday weekend on April 15th and 16th.

That means March 26th I'll most likely give Snake Road a try after herping a similar SE Missouri migration and denning spot on the 25th.

So my long spring trips are:

    March 25th and 26th SE Missouri/Snake Road

April 15th and 16th NW Arkansas or East and Central Kansas

Mid to late May Montana, Wyoming, Idaho (Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem).

    I'm ready for spring!

Hoosierherper, you're going to love snake road and those days in April are the ideal time (not too early, not too late).

I hope to put a crew from Nashville Tennessee up there in late March and certainly the first weekend of April barring really awful weather. I really look forward to the trip

Snakes have probably already left their dens. Can you believe that January??? My tulips are already 2 to 5 in. high out of the ground!!! Should be an interesting year.

Wayne- I'm so excited! Let me know how the trip out in the Yellowstone are goes. Tell me if you find any good new spots. By the way, herping on your wife's b-day? You're a lucky man.

I know this seems picky but I don't like that my user name has somehow changed to all lower case. Oh well, anyway, I'm tentatively planning to go sometime between March 18-March 26 (spring break in TN) and then hopefully go again in April (Mitchell had mentioned the weekend of 4/7-4/9). Hope to finally meet Wayne and some of the others from this forum. Thanks.

I have to go down to Lousville April 4th for a comedy audition, anyone got a good inside track on some spots to check out for salamanders and snakes? I'm planning on spending a few days down there.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Evan,

Yeah I don't like how mine is all lower case either. I hope to run into you at snake road on the 26th.

    Hoosier,

Yeah, if I find any cool new spots around Red Lodge I'll pass them your way so you can try them the next time you are out there. And yep I'm definitely lucky to have a wife who loves to herp. We even went herping in Arizona for our honeymoon.

    Dave,

I don't really know Kentucky, but that ought to be a good time to get out down there. Good luck with the comedy audition.

    Dave,

I know Will Bird, an officer in the Kentucky Herp Society. He does research with Phil Peak, who some on this forum know as KentuckyPhil from fieldherpforum.com. They both live in Louisville. I'll email Will and see if he can point you in the right direction or if he and Phil would want to meet you somewhere.

    That would be very cool.

    Dave,

Got an email back from him asking what would be your target species, if you have one. He first suggested Red River Gorge in the Daniel Boone National Forest (about an hour and a half away), but I'm trying to get him to give me some suggestions closer to Louisville. What do you want me to tell him you want to see?

Generally I'd like to see anything I can't see in Chicagoland. Salamanders would be nice, but anything will do. I ahven't been out in months so any critters will suffice at this point.
