Electrolux Icon Dual Wall Oven; Any experience?

I am interested in purchasing the Electrolux Icon Wave Touch Dual wall ovens (E30EW85GPS). Anyone have any experience with these? I did hear somewhere that you need to be careful with newer ovens as they did not fit standard cookie sheets. Is this true? I am going to try them today at the store. But any comments on this oven??

I looked at these the other day at Sears. Was going to get them, but then saw the Kenmore Pro (also made by Electrolux). I chose the Kenmore Pro b/c it had dials instead of the digital controls. My theory is that the less digital controls, the less to go wrong with the oven... As I said, it is only a theory. I also was able to get the same oven for less $$. I've also written a post asking a forum member who has the Kenmore Pro what she thinks, but she hasn't responded yet. I read reviews about the Kenmore Pro and not all were positive, so now I am beginning to wonder if I should have gone with the Icon Wave.

Let us know how the store visit goes - I am interested to hear what you think.

I have an Icon. It is a beautiful oven. I can fit a large steam tray pan in the oven comfortably. I have not tried a full sheet pan - I don't own one.
I am coming from having only a 24" oven - so a 30" seems huge to me!
I can comment on their customer service. I had an issue with the oven, they got a tech out to me right away. The tech said the issue was not repairable and told them they should send a new oven. The took care of everything on their end right away. I am still waiting for the internet dealer I bought it from to make all the arrangements for shipping the new, getting the old and taking care of the uninstall/install costs (for which Electrolux is paying).
Nice oven, great customer service. Love the wave touch - lots of fun.

    Hi chefnewbie,
There's a few of us on another thread that are trying to figure out if the Icon actually has a third element for convection. The spec sheet only lists power for 2 elements (bake 2200W and broil 4000W), so we're wondering if there is actually a third heating element for convection, or if the "third element" is just the fan. Can you let us know? Thanks!

Yes, I just looked at the fan and there is a heating element surrounding it. I do not know the wattage and the manual does not have the technical specifications of it. I can say that the Icon's convection is great! Both the convection roast and the convection bake have provided excellent results for me.
I was skeptical at first because the price is just so much less that other ovens with comparable features, but it really is nice.
Can't wait for my new one to come!
I really can't say enough about the customer service I received on Electrolux's end.

Awesome! Thanks for the answer... I'll likely be getting this for my new house. Btw, what was the problem with your oven? How long have you had it?

We have this model and really like it. The convection oven works great .
We love the gliding racks and how cool the doors are while in use.
Don't know about the cookie sheets.
My only complaint is the LED Clock is too bright at night. I can find no adjustment to dim it.

    Hi all:
Just came back from the store and tried a regular size cookie sheet in the oven. It fits but it is tight. It is the width of the sheet that butts right up to the back rim of the pull out and on the other end close to the door comes to the very end of the glide out rack so that indent for your potholder on the pullout is covered. It looks manageable but it is takes up the full width of the rack with no room back to front. I have never had a wall oven and the fact that it was not as deep surprised me. I think all the other freatures out weigh this so I am going to get it.

Also, do all convection ovens make a small whirring noise of the fan when you turn it on? Does the fan noise stay on the whole time?

The icon has two fans (well, 4 since it's a double:)). Each oven has an exhaust fan, which is actually pretty quiet and a convection fan which does stay on the whole time you are using a convection feature. The convection fan turns off when you open the oven, though.

My oven has an issue with the locking mechanism for the bottom oven. It keeps saying it's locked when it's not and makes a beeping sound when I open the bottom oven. It has something to do with the lock motor and the central computer board. Since the oven was purchased at the end of June and I became aware of the problem when we moved into our new house in September.
They tried several things, were on the phone with Electrolux tech support and finally said that it just couldn't be fixed.
That's the story in a nutshell.

Chefnewbie: Thanks for the information on the convection fans. Will they replace it for you? That is bad. I thought Electrolux was supposed to have good service.

Yes they are replacing it. My first post in this thread has all the details.
I am just having logistical trouble with the internet co. I bought the oven from. They are trying to figure out how to do the switch on the same day so that an authorized installer can remove the old oven and the shipping co can take it away and install the new oven - same day kind of thing. I am thinking it will have to be two days, but we'll see. Electrolux is even paying for the uninstall and new install.

I have this oven and I can't say that I love it. I'm not sure if I am just not used to it or if my oven just doesn't work properly. No matter what I cook it never seems to cook in the time it is supposed to (these recipes always worked in my old oven) Also, does anyone know what the difference is of using the "preheat" button vs. just setting the oven to bake and waiting for it to beep when it reaches temp? I used to think I knew how to cook before my new kitchen now I am not so sure anymore LOL

My Icon must be an older model without a preheat button ... lol! I just looked and I do have it. I think I used it once! I just set it to bake or convection bake or convection roast, wait for the beep and drop in the food. I am actually having the opposite problem, jackiemcg. My food gets done musch faster than I'm used to. If I remember correctly, the pre-heat button is more for baking when you want a really steady accurate temp - as I said, I think I used it once when I baked a cake or brownies.
