Need help selecting tile & look for upstairs hall bathroom
Comments (11)Hi-Not sure what tile company is in your area. Many of my neighbors used Dal Tile, I used Florida Tile. Best sometimes to talk with an independent tile store and not the big box stores. All companies should stock a mottled tile. Bring the tile home to check in your room. Do you have a sample of the vanity stain? What are the other tile textures & colors in your house? The new tile should harmonize with any other tiles in other rooms. I'd buy the curtain and shower curtain last or toward the end. The wall paint is best chosen after the wallpaper (if you are using). You might have to return many shower curtains and tile samples. This is not unusual. It would be unusual to find the exactly right fabric or tile on the first try. I might choose a semi-sheer white or off white for the shower curtain, perhaps the same curtain for the window curtain and have a chrome rod at the window and the same shower rings you use at the shower area. These things are best decided later. The bathroom is not huge, so keeping things simple will be most effective. I'd want the beautiful tile and tub to be the divas in the room and let the shower curtain and curtain take a secondary role....See MorePlease help me pull this living room together
Comments (267)-- Ya - You need more color over on the stair wall. Solid gold pillow over there will do it. A little blue between the rug and draperies would be nice too. Pull the colors around the room....See MoreShould I let my upstairs neighbor build a balcony above my balcony?
Comments (20)The rear of the building is a small parking lot. I'm not a contractor, but they might have to get creative with supports since they couldn't run posts down to the ground floor from the back. Plus, the back of the building is bedrooms and I think they wanted a balcony off their main living space. I couldn't really find much data about the market values of the properties in both buildings. They haven't had many sales since both buildings were converted from apartments during the peak of the housing boom. After researching the bylaws, I found a clause that talked about additions to the exterior. It stated that any such changes require a unanimous vote from all the unit owners. I was the only person against the addition of new balconies. Most people didn't have a strong opinion or were in favor of it. I suspect most people didn't care because it really only impacted the two people having balconies added above them and those getting new balconies. The person who wanted a balcony was upset. However, my thought was if they really wanted a balcony so badly, they should have bought a unit that already had one, or before they purchased they should have asked about the possibility of adding one in the future. Maybe I'm selfish for voting no, but I'm fine with it :-)...See MorePSYCHO NEIGHBOR FROM HELL
Comments (26)As far as psycho neighbors go, this is nothing. The guy next to me in Michigan tried six times to have me ticketed/arrested/TROed. I beat him and his wife in court every single time. I got so good at it I quit taking my lawyer with me. It really sucked when his relatively modern house burned to the ground mysteriously. I told the former homicide detective that had been hired by his insurance company to investigate that I was an hour away on a job when it started and to check my cell phone records. He did. I told him to check the fact that my neighbor was forced by the developer to buy the lot between us because he stupidly encroached on it when he built his house. He failed at his attempts to get a variance. He built his new house on the lot properly and now the encroached lot is buildable again....See Moretaku
