Absolutely not. Most of us mix and match brands to get the best functioning appliances. Do a search - there are a number of threads on this topic.

It's fine if you value that look over the function you could have. Is it a show room or a working kitchen? Some people don't really use their kitchen and that's cool. I'd be much happier if cooking every day was a joy :) But if you do want a certain level of performance, don't short-change yourself by settling for a suite.

That's not to say that some brands offer only one good appliance. You can certainly find 2-3 within a line that gives you what you want. But don't limit yourself right out of the gate.

This has been covered ad nauseum. There was even a thread addressing matching appliances earlier this week. i dont think it matters whether the house is new or not. Search before you post.

Below is the thread DCJersey referenced. My answer is there. Basically, the answer is a big NO.

Here is a link that might be useful: Current tread on the same topic

Does your husband cook? If not, then who cares what he thinks about the tools that you choose. You don't tell him that he has to purchase the prettiest lawn tractor even if it's not the best simply because the color goes better in the garage.

I'm going to throw my hat in with the "nope" group. A lot of appliances are built by the same manufacturer(s) and given different brand names with just a few differences. There's an appliance411.com website that details who makes what appliance. In my opinion, you should choose the appliance that best suits your needs (price, performance, style) and then find a cohesive look such as all stainless or black or white. OR you could go for a great accent piece (I REALLY wanted a red refurbished O'Keefe & Merritt range but most vintage ranges are too big for my standard 30" slot between cabinets) and then the rest of the appliances can look similar.

As for which brand is best, if you're not cross-eyed by searching reviews and options by now, you soon will be! What I finally had to do was figure out what KIND of range I wanted - electric, gas or dual fuel. Then I had to think about performance and how I cook (which is ALL THE TIME). I decided I wanted as few electronics as possible and a workhorse. The last thing I need on an oven is a "chicken nugget" mode. We've settled on a Wolf all gas range.

I'm new to this forum, too, after reading and researching for several weeks. It can be kind of hard to find what you're looking for if you don't know exactly what to search or even exactly WHAT you're looking for. I've learned a LOT and most people are very helpful in answering your questions. Good luck!

Matching would be nice. Mine don't. No two from the same brand. Electrolux, Fischer Paykel, Sharp, LG, Gaggenau, Broan. I wish the Gaggenau at least were stainless (as are the others), but it is the aluminum finish they made. Other than that, various styles of stainless look okay (to me).

    Of course not.

I'm with attofarad - Capital, Sharp, Miele, KA, ModernAire.

    If they are Transformers, yes.

Otherwise they just need to not look silly together. Some of the ultra modern sleek Miele ovens for example would look terrible with a Big Chill range.
