You have already installed the court and its curbing by now, and the plants as well? If not planted send us some new pictures. The court is roughly what, 15'x80' or 20'x90', which leaves lots of room for olive trees and terraces and wine coolers. There is a lot of labor involved in these things. You can't just slap in a bit of mortar and call it a day. The wall wasn't maintained properly, so when the mortar fell out, water could flow through and weaken whatever was behind the wall. The freeze/thaw cycle also weakened it. Manufactured stone can look very nice, (better than concrete brick, truthfully) and rebar and gravel are used behind it to prevent this sort of thing. Labor is less on the manufactured all as well, but of course, get a second or third opinion before spending your money. Considering the potential impact on your house foundation and driveway, you might be able to get some help from the seller on remediation.
