Antique buffet?

Hello, I'm new to this site. I'm looking for information regarding this buffet and would appreciate any info or opinions. It's listed on my local Craigslist for $100.00. and I would love to know the style, years made and if you think the price is good. (Especially if it IS an antique). Thank you so much for looking!

I'm going to try to attach a link to the picture, hoping it works.

Here is a link that might be useful:

By definition, an antique is usually 100 years or older. The buffet you pictured is 1930s deco-revival. I can't identify the veneer or the shape it's in. The style is unique and very handsome. Cases pieces like that one usually go for much higher when they have the accompanying pieces (china hutch, table/chairs, etc.). If I had the space and the style I would definately consider $100 as a decent bargain. Good luck!!

Miles661: thank you so much for your response, I really appreciate it. I'm going to contact the person, and if it's still available, try to see it by the weekend. I'll let you know if I get it! Thanks again.

JUMP ON IT! $100 is dirt cheap for this one!

Miles and Annie, I don't have good news: the buffet had sold right before I called about it. Thanks for your advice, though, which will help me if I find a similar buffet next time! Have a great weekend.

SHOOT! I hate when that happens. One thing to remember whenever considering purchases like this, is do you like it enough to pay the asking price, regardless of the "real" value? I collect antique sewing machines and while I've gotten most of them for what I'd consider bargain prices, I've over-paid for a couple and I have NO regrets. They are definitely worth what I paid as far as I'm concerned and I'm not buying them as investments, so I will pay whatever I feel is my price on any given day.

That's exactly how I do it, Annie. When I go to auctions, after I get a good look at an article I may be interested in, I always set up the price in my mind to which I'll bid, depending on how badly I want it. The $ figure is as much dependent on my lust as its value. I also ask myself how much I'd spend on a piece with a similar function if I had to go out and buy one new. LOL. Nine times out of ten, if it's not some rare museum piece the vintage or antique item is as cheap or cheaper. If you bought a buffet today for a hundred dollars, it would be made out of pressboard with contact paper for a finish.
