Antiques and Collectibles...Are you a newbie, or..

has it been a lifelong obsession? LOL I started out pretty young loving old things and collecting. I was the kind of kid that if I had one pretty rock I wanted to see how many I could amass - same way with everything else that caught my eye! LOL

What about you - have antiques and collectibles always been a way of life for you or is it a new acquired taste?

Yeah....like forever! I remember as a kid begging my parents to stop at an antique store...I liked the old stoneware crocks.....

I have 30 years worth so I guess it's a fairly new thing.

Funny you should say that about the rocks. I found mini African Violets yesterday and bought 8, went back today and got the other 8. While I was doing it I was thinking I didn't need 16 minis. There are probably only four colors in them all.

Oh well, one is never a collection, is it?

LOL Daisy No, one is definitely NOT a collection! My DH always wanders around junk shops with me and says, "I guess I oughta start collecting something..." LOL I told him, "Honey, if you haven't started a collection by now, you never will!" LOL

we started about 20 years ago.We use go on a sunday we always came back with a couple things now we go sometimes we come home with nothing. Alot of things are way too high priced for thier condition,Or you just didnt find anything . Good antiques are hard to find now.Ive been over most east coast cant find real nice antiques anymore.My oil cans I have over 400. 20 years ago they were 2 -4 dollars now theyre 20=-30-40 dollars But I have a good many now.

Since childhood I've been a collector/hoarder/bargain hunter. I remember accompanying my parents to antique shops and thrift shops from the time I could walk!

Since I was a kid--

And I enjoy it so much that I became a licensed auctioneer to play with other people's antiques!!!! :):)

My mom was a collector of bottles dug from their front yard when putting in a porch, landscaping, & a driveway turn-around. She had brown medicine, cobalt, & clear bottles, including the one she gave me when I had my son 15 years ago this past May. It's a baby bottle & someday I'd love to find a nipple for it.

When I got 40-some deep into house plants a few years ago I started looking for pottery, pans, etc., to display them in/on. I have a few McCoy's, one Haeger & would love some more of each, & I'm always on the lookout for Shawnee. I have a milk can that fits a pot on top, a coal bucket & chamber pot that fits a pot inside each nicely, & a wash basin that gets planted with annuals every spring.
