Thanks for the heads up on the farm sink/ island. It's what we have planned and already have the sink. With your tip on the faucet and since we are building the island, I'll allow more room in the back area of the sink to move the faucet back a pinch. Thanks again!

My biggest disappointment is that I cannot look out of the window when I am sitting in my tub! No neighbors and lots of great views...

I emailed you a few weeks ago to see how you were liking the new house, but it was returned. So I posted on a thread of yours hoping you would see.

As far as the sink, we had a large single copper sink in our last kitchen. I liked it, but we did not have a garbage disposal (septic tank).

When we first moved to this house, I would get wet from the farmhouse/faucet if something was sitting there and I turned the water up to high, but after a few weeks/months I got used to it and it no longer happens.

I know some put in warming drawers for towel warmers instead of the bars. Sorry you don't like yours.

Allison, thanks for the reminder, I forgot to update my new email address, we moved to the "country", you know, and had to get a different internet, phone and now have satellite TV.

The sink is a lot better, since I got the grid. It really did make a big difference. I am getting more use to it, but, in the beginning, I was very disappointed. We are still putting things up, can't wait until it's done, so I can relax and enjoy our new home.

I wish I had done the warming drawer in our bath. I can't believe I didn't think that the towel warmer would stand out so much. It is the first thing you see when you enter. I took it down today, DH just shakes his head-LOL!

Sierraeast, is your kitchen opened to a family room? That is how ours is and I really like it. I have a 5 yo DS and it is so nice working at the sink while he is sitting across from me doing his homework or even just talking. It is the most favorite thing about my new house.

Same thing with us; new phone/internet provider. Couldn't bring our number with us. No cable, but I do like DISH now that I'm use to it.

Maybe you can sell the towel warmer on ebay.

Hi Olliesmom, It's between the kitchen and the living area. This is the plan although we bumped it out 2' in the back, moved the back door to the exterior, and moved the laundry where the back storage area is to make the kitchen a tad bigger. We eliminated all but one window in the living area moving it to the far corner and put in a set of double patio doors to the back deck. The water heater is in the hall closet where the a/c is shown rather than under the stairs so we can put a pantry there. We eliminated the door to the bath in the bedroom, and the bath is layed out different. We made quite a few changes to both floors of our little house! Thanks again about the faucet. We have a hansgrohe with a sprayer coming out of the neck, so it sounds like we would be shooting water about until we got used to it, so i'll move it back a ways. Look forward to your pics, i'll post some when i learn our camera and how to post. Should get a little more done this summer, so maybe a little more interest as far as pics as the interior will be further along.

olliesmom, aren't we so fortunate we can complain about these things when some people don't even have a roof over their head? I do count my blessings everyday.

On the subject of not liking things in the new house. I already don't like a couple of things in my new house and I'm not even living in it yet. It happens unless you're a many times over home builder who learns by past errors.

brutuses, yeah, you know, these days and times, I am always weighing out things, as far as, "if this is all I have to worry about, things aren't so bad!" But, this is the "Building a Home" forum, so little things like this matter in that instance. I really like most of everything in our new home, but, I just have to try something new sometimes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I've always thought what patience you have for the length of time in building your house. A virtue I wish I had! Your house has looked like it was about to move in at any time, everytime I see pics of it-LOL! Are you getting close?

olliesmom, what kind of towel warmer did you have? We are considering one that would tie into our radiant flooring system. I've heard other people say they were unhappy with theirs, but they were always electric. I'm trying to find someone with feedback on a radiant-style one.

arewethereyet, it's electric. I bet the radiant one would work a lot better. The towel doesn't even feel warm, only on the part of the towel that folds over. I did notice once that I left the towel on all day, it was a little warm, just a little. I had just envisioned getting out of the tub and grabbing a nice really warm towel-NOT! LOL!

OT: This reminds me of the morning I heard my DH yelp from the bathroom of our hotel in London. He'd grabbed the towel warmer while putting on his slippers. That one was part of the plumbing -- connected to the hot water supply pipes for the tub. I never thought of adding something like that. It would surely work well with our recirculating hot water. Don't really need it as the bathroom is plenty warm with the under-tile electric heat.

ollie, yes we're very close. Expect to be in May or June and if I'm lucky and the money doesn't run out and we don't have to rob a bank, we might be in sooner.

I wasn't underminding your concerns so please don't take it that way. I understand believe me. You work so hard for something, you sure as heck want it right and sometimes is just isn't. I wish I could back track on some things, but it's way too late to do that so I'll have to live with them.

Thanks, olliesmom. I was hoping that yours would be electric! We have exactly one spot left on the manifold for the radiant, and it happens to be hiding behind the tub! It's kismet, so I'm going for it! Good luck on getting your wallpaper, etc, back to good.

If I had it to do over again, I would research more ideas and get more opinions. I have been comprising a wish list of sorts as we intend to add on in the future. Many of the things are simply about planning for storage a little better. If I could redo my staircase, I would make them each a drawer. Have you seen that? It looks really great for additional storage. I haven't seen them personally only in photos. boycrzee, yes I have seen (or heard) about stairs that have drawers in them. I thought it was a good idea too. Just make sure no one leaves one open while walking down the stairs late one night-LOL!

Well, I did get two of the four holes taken care of, in taking down the towel warmer. My DH put a towel bar that was just the right space apart. I still have the two upper ones to take care of. If you didn't know they were there, you probably would never notice it, but, I know, and my eyes fall right to those two holes in the wallpaper.

And, really, since I got the sink grid for the farm sink, it really is so much better! Either that, or I am getting use to it. I do have to say, I like being able to fit big pans in it.

brutuses, I was really trying not to sound like you offended me, but, I guess I couldn't get the right words out. I didn't take it that way. I bet we will be hearing some "Hallelujah's" when you move into your home. At least on yours, you've taken the time to really think things out. We had to rush through some things, but, did try to think of everything-which never happens!

Ollie, with all the time I've had, I've still made errors. I think building more than one house is what it takes before your get it "100%" and maybe not even then. LOL
