Tax Credits for new home builders?

Anyone know of information for providing tax credits to new home builders. It looks as though the Energy Star Tax credit program expired as of Jan 1, 2008. Any word on if the government will pick up this program again or are there alternative routes?

The word so far is no, the bill didn't make it through Congress. Apparently not enough folks are letting their Congressmen know that this is a desirable program!

Check for possible rebates through state programs (those vary -considerably- from state to state). Don't forget to check with each manufacturer for credits, discounts, or rebates.

The consumer tax credits were 10% of the cost of approved items but it was limited to a max. credit of $200 for windows, $50 for a circulating fan, $150 for furnace/boiler and $300 for all other items. The total was limited to $500 for all years. It was too little too late in my opinion.
