How to build your own recessed medicine cabinet?

I recently read on this forum (can't remember if it was here or Building a Home) about someone who built their own recessed medicine cabinet. They bought a mirror, attached hinges and a magnetic clasp, and somehow built their own cabinet.

Does anyone else remember reading this, or know how to do this themselves? I'd like to have a recessed medicine cabinet with outlets inside, and our electrician needs to know where to put them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

we (I mean DH) built our own MC in the last house, and will do so again with this remodel. No particular trick to it (easy for me to say). Basically a box with holes drilled in the sides to support glass shelves. Have to frame around studs- cuz I assume your MC will be wider than 16".

Now I do know the electrical box has to be attached to the side of a stud for support, so am assuming they need to be located near an edge- either side or bottom or top.

Obviously, everything has to be wired to a GFI (ground fault interrupter).

My DH is an electrical engineer and fully qualified to do complicated wiring etc. If you need to ask how to build a medicine cabinet- maybe it would be best to buy one if you want the electrical outlet inside?
