Toto Carlyle ii reviews?

Any here with this toilet? I like the double cyclone feature, one piece and skirted aspect to this toilet. Not sure if worth 200 dollar price difference over Drake ii however. That double cyclone does seem to be the way to go, regardless. We have a low volume non cyclone toilet and I am not pleased with cleaning at top of bowl.

I am also perplexed by the choice between the Carlyle II and the Nexus ada compliant toilets. I really like the look of the Nexus, but I am uncertain about the performance of the e-max flush system on the Nexus and wonder if the double cyclone on the Carlyle is better?

There doesn't seem to be much information on the performance of these 1.28 systems, more of the information relates to the 1.6 systems.

I bought a Carlyle II last spring when we were remodeling our guest bathroom, and we liked it so much that we bought another when we moved on to remodeling our master bath. We couldn't be happier! (Imagine saying that about a toilet, LOL!)

The Carlyle II looks good, and more importantly, it works well -- better than any toilet we've ever had. In my research last year, I felt I found that the Dual Cyclone flush was Toto's best, better than E-Max. Dual Cyclone provides more wash around the entire bowl. I've never owned an E-Max toilet, though, so I can't say this based on direct personal comparison. In 9 months of use, I don't think we've ever had to double flush, and certainly haven't had to plunge.

I started my search convinced I wanted a 1.6 gallon toilet because it seemed only logical that more water would flush better. I ended up getting sucked in by the looks and other features of the Carlyle II, and I'm so happy we did. So we got the look we wanted, the flush we hoped for, and it uses 20% less water. Awesome!

Thanks Eric. You did a great search, plus personal experience which is all very informative and helpful. The Carlyle is lovely, we like the skirted look. However, the Nexus is also skirted and has a sleek Euro-style geometric look that would really complement our master bath reno plan. We think we have a line on a 1.6 litre ada Nexus, which seems to have good reviews on this forum. Had we not found this, I think we would have either gone with the Carlyle II, or a dual flush which has more going on at the high end flush (when you need it!) than a single flush eco toilet.

This is a great forum. While this string is my first attempt at posting, I have been reading along and learning for a little while as we have been working through the design phase.

Eric, we might be siblings separated at birth! Love the research you've done on the Toto's. I have an AS Cadet 3 1.6gpf. It never has a problem flushing, but the top of the bowl cleaning is just not there. I really like the premise behind the double cyclone for that reason alone. Can you tell me, is the skirt easier to clean than a non skirt?

Well, I confess that my wife generally cleans the toilets. Yes, the skirted ones have a smooth surface, without any nooks and crannies for dust and dirt to accumulate. From the times I've done it, I'd say it's a snap to clean the exterior of the skirted toilets, and my wife likes them much more than our older standard toilets.
