Floor almost done - pictures

Went out to the house this afternoon. Floor is laid but no grout so I guess they had to take off. The masonry crew was to be there today but no one was there. There was a delivery of rock today so maybe I thought he said they would rock today and they really said that they were delivering more rock! LOL! Anyway, the floor is looking really good. There are two tiles that look like someone stepped on them so that will need to be addressed but I am really happy so far! Here is what I snapped today :-)My camera is not taking the best of pictures so not sure how these will look!

The floor is travertine and I had my doubts but I am so beyond happy with it :-) Hoping to see grout tomorrow and maybe some outside work being done but I will take what I get!!! The electrician is yet to come back. He needs to shorten that pendent light and hang the other ones and finish up with his stuff. That wall is going to be rocked with the sandstone along with the fireplace. It is coming along and I see the light :-)

It looks great! I just love how the windows go so close to the floor. Does the travertine go through all of the main living areas of the house? Tell me about your lighting when you have a chance... your paint color is very close to my clutter room color- SW Practical beige...

    You are getting so close!

Thanks PD! I LOVE LOVE LOOOVE my windows! The travertine is in the main living areas yes. Also in the bathrooms and laundry, of course from the pictures! The only rooms with carpet are the bedrooms. We were going to put down wood in the bedrooms but after walking around on my sisters wood and tile floor this winter I wanted to step out of bed on a soft carpet in the mornings! LOL! At least my legs are broken in with walking on the hard floor. When we first moved in with my sister and I walked on her tile floors my feet and legs killed me!!!

My paint is SW Nomadic Dessert. The lights in the kitchen above the bar and in the eating area where all bought at Lowes. They are antique pewter and they were both on clearance. They were the Portfolio, Sienna collection.

The pendent lights were bought at Home Depot and I do not remember the name of them off hand. They are a brushed nickel finish.

I have pretty much mixed brushed nickel/antique brushed nickel and antique pewter. I am really happy with how it is all turning out :-)

Off to get DD to bed....

    Kelntx,
That's some beautiful tile. I notice that your laundry and kitchen backsplash uses large tiles - are those 12"? - instead of the more typical small tiles. That looks really good. What made you decide to use large tiles there? I just picked my backsplash last week and the tile woman didn't even show us any larger tiles; only small.

Very gorgeous. I have been in many $$$ model homes lately and that is the same floor they are showing. Great job!

    Thanks y'all!

Try_Hard - yes that is 12 inch tile. We had picked out a tumbled tile for the back splash and right at the last minute we changed. I mean we changed it on Wednesday of last week! Our builder used 13 inch on his back splash and shower surrounds and I really liked it. PLUS it was a lot cheaper :-) I was not finding a tumbled tile that I really liked.

The travertine is called Dalmation Noce and we saw a tile that was called Melia Noce. I think that is was Melia?? it picked up the colors in the travertine really well. The pictures do not really pick up the colors very well.

It is raining today so I need to go get some boxes to put down on the floor. Why does it have to rain?!?!? LOL!

Love it Kel! The travertine is gorgeous! Dare I ask...has your builder given you a new date yet? It's looking close!

Well....he said it should all be done this week but.......

LOL! I guess we will see how things go this week. We are so close and I know the end is near so I am happy knowing it will be a few weeks and we can be in :-) Maybe I will have a birthday gift!!!!

It's all pullin' together nicely kelntex. Great job and happy birthday to ya!

Kelly, the floors are just beautiful! Makes it feel like a real house when the floors go down! You must be REALLY close to moving in (depending on how 'finished' you can live with)!

Oh, something else I noticed (from someone who can relate, LOL)...I noticed the nice layer of dust on your countertops, LOL. I've been cleaning all my surfaces daily...I'm soooo ready to get rid of this layer of dust

    Beautiful, Kelly!

Thank you everyone. It has been a long process, as you all know! I am just glad to see things coming together. Jenny - the dust is stressing me out! LOL! I had to leave today because the rockers are just chipping away inside the house and little pieces of rock are everywhere. I kept trying to clean and sweep and I just gave up. It is better that I am not there to see the mess they are making. I almost fell over when they brought our piece of sandstone for the mantle. I can't wait to see it on. I could not find a mantle I liked so I left that up to DH and it looks like he made the right choice!

    Thank you again everyone!

Kel~ I saw a bit of your flooring in your rock post, so was thrilled to see this post about the flooring. GORGEOUS!! I love that travertine. It looks perfect with your wall colors and goes great with the "feel" of your house.

So excited for you. Everything is turning out perfect. After all of the hard work, it is surely paying off!! :o)

Totally - I had a dream about you last night! LOL! It was the weirdest thing. I guess because I was talking to DH about your pipes last night....we think a pipe on our well is broke, we have to unwrap it to see but anyway. I must have had you on my mind. I have no idea what you look like but I dreamed about you. We were at Martha's Vineyard looking for window treatments! LOL! It was one of those dreams where you wake up and go HUH? I think all of my conversations were rolled into this dream. The pipe, my friend who is building just spent $1,000 on window treatments for her house and I was saying how we are not putting any up but in the bedrooms only. Martha's Vineyard....I have NO IDEA where that came from :-) We were having fun though and waiting to see the president who was bike riding. I do not know who was president though!

    Weird, but there it is!

The floors look fantastic. What is the name of the travetine and where did you get it?

    Kel~

That is so funny! I've never been to MV, but I'd love to check it out. And I'm all for shopping! I'm not into politics, so even if IRL the Pres went by, I might have to say "oh, was that the Pres"?! :o) LOL! Shameful, I know.

I just replied on your "tile sealer" post. Good stuff!! :o)

TB - I am not really into politics but my sister keeps putting my car radio on NPR each morning. LOL!

I have never been to Martha's either but I would love to!

Going to check out the sealer!!

Looks great! I bet you are getting so excited to get in there (except the moving part)!

Well, this is my first post... You should be very proud that your home was the one that prompted me to stop lurking and start posting. Very nice house! I had to get our plans out and look at your kitchen layout... I am really suprised that our layout and yours is identical, even the pantry!!!

We bought 20 acres on a river-bluff and picked out a set of plans that incorporate a cut view, such as yours. Long story to get to the point, so here it is. I too really love your windows. We are building for the view and want it as unobstructed as yours. Could you please post the manu and name of the windows you've put in.

I really appreciate your time and congratulations for having such good taste!!!! LOL
