Building a Home

Heating cables for the roof and gutters? How do you like them?

Dh and I have had gutters and downspouts put on our new house. Now the builder says we should get heating cables. This is all new to us because we are not from an area that needed such things. What can you tell me about them? What to look out for? Can DH install them?

Hello, I don't know where you live but I live in Mi and we get a fair amount of snow. I tried them with no luck at all. Seems like they are impossible to get to lay flat and collect all kinds of leafs etc. If you drive around look I would be surprized if one out of 250 have them.
