Master Bath remodel - the good and the bad

We finally finished our new Master Bath (well, almost. I still need a window treatment). I thought I'd share some things that went well, and some that didn't.

The good:

The drain for the shower was positioned right on top of a floor beam, so my contractor wanted to push the whole wall out 4". Instead, I came up with the idea of creating a 4" shelf in the shower (I have to admit, I got the idea from reading about "Shampoo shelves" on this forum!). This way, the bathroom wall stayed even, and I love, love, love my shelf!

The bad:

I planned on having a frame-less glass shower enclosure, but when it came time to measure for the glass (the last thing of course), I found out that it's not safe to have a frame-less glass door attached to a glass panel. You really need it to be attached to a wall or frame. So I had to settle for framed glass. Oh well. If I had known, I would have had the contractor build a small wall where the left glass panel is now. (Note that I couldn't attach the door to the existing wall because of the baseboard heater in the way)

Overall, I love our new bathroom

Ooh, too bad we didn't hear about this sooner. Frameless glass doors can be hung off of frameless glass panels, it's a fairly common installation.

Here's one that's configured fairly similar to yours:

Thanks everyone. BarnLady, my shower is 48x48 and the seat is another 12"

Your room is beautiful! We have frameless glass doors on an enclosure that is almost identical to yours. I think sometimes it just depends who you go with for the enclosure. Nonetheless the frame doesn't detract at all from your gorgeous room.

It is so pretty! Love the shower; the shelf adds something extra besides great storage. I actually like the framed shower door - it coordinates with your orb and keeps it from looking as contemporary as frameless might. The cabinet at the end of the tub is brilliant. It is so nice to be able to reach towels or washcloths from the tub - in case you forget to grab them before getting in.

Fixtures: Moen Brantford
Vanity: Kraftmaid
Light fixtures: Maxim MX 11058

I don't remember the name of the tile, sorry.

I know some places will do a frameless Glass door on a glass panel but my friend in the glass business did not recommend it. He said over time it can loosen and become dangerous. So I took his word for it. Oh well.

Just beautiful! And I agree that the shower frame doesn't detract from your beautiful bathroom at all and coordinates very nicely. Love the tub cabinetry. I was actually considering something similar but don't think I'll have quite enough room. This is the photo that inspired me:
