my updated bathroom choices need help

I am in the middle of a renovation of our home built in 1928. I have a small 1st floor powder room and have chosen everything except the sconces. I am hoping to use the small oval mirror shown below over the pedestal sink but it is in gold leaf and all fixtures are polished nickel so I may need to make it silver leaf. Also I need help with sconces- probably need to be polished nickel and must be two overhead (above the mirror)- the mirror scale is 26" h x 22" wide oval. I was looking at RH Lugarna but it looks too big. Open to any looks! Suggestions?

-Have you checked out some of the fixtures at the rejuvenation.com website? They have some nice period basic fixtures available in different finishes. They are also having a sale now thru April 1 of 20% off all period basic fixtures.

The Lugarno looks too big because it is too big. I went down that same path and ended up returning several RH and PB bath scornes. The problem, I finally concluded, is that they are designed for bathrooms, not powder rooms, and large scale bathrooms at that. PB has one, the Nash Candlestick, that might work for you. But do take some time to look at other sites or in your local lighting shop for sconces that aren't made for bathrooms but for dining rooms or halls. The scale will be smaller and there will be more designs that "speak the same language" as your house and your design plan. (Which BTW looks great. I think the gold mirror would look terrific with polished nickle fixtures and keep it from being too matchy, matchy.)

As to your comment about the gold color. They sell in most craft stores a tiny pot of metal color. I have applied it with my fingertip and rubbed into the surface. You just keep applying and working it in and it looks really good when it is complete. I would then find a good clear sealer in a matt finish to lock it in. Be sure you test out the spray finishes first cause some take forever to dry and are too thick and spoil the look and some yellow tint your project as well. You want a fast drying, no color tint spray lacquer. They are all different maybe the craft side could guide you to what is out now. I had one but they took it off the market.

Thanks for the help! doingygirl- I ordered my sconce from rejuvination.com- I was able to choose from a variety of finishes (wanted polished nickel) and from a huge number of shades. Worked great and I am about to order another flush mounted fixture from them. Liked the flexibility and the fact that I could "try on" different shades and see what they would look like.

tzmaryg- I agree with you on the mirror that if I change it it may just look too matchy matchy- I will get it up and see how it looks.

jjaazzy- thanks for the diy advice on how to change the finish on the mirror. If I decide to change it - I have printed out your instructions on how to do it!
