Modern thick glass sink - anyone have any pictures?

I am considering using this modern thick glass sink, it reads very green, like coke bottle green. I am trying to build a bathroom around it, I am thinking white tiles with charcoal accents. I want a very modern bathroom, this sink might give me the WOW I am looking for if done properly. I would love to see some visuals if anyone has any. It comes in square and round and I haven't made my mind up about the shape either.

Not seen that before, very cool-imediately made me want to add LED lighting on a dimmer to it's instalation.

I think this line of faucets would look good in your bathroom. I don't think charcoal accents would look good, just my honest option. I like the idea of white and maybe chrome modern fixtures, like this:

onlyme356, I totally agree with the wall mounted fixture idea, however I fell in love with the ribbon goose neck faucet by Danze and so the plumbing has been run to come up through the cabinet. I am soooo stuck on the color issue.
bodica, yep I too said the same thing about lighting from below, but clueless as to how to get that accomplished without being able to see all the wires and junk. Wonder if you could make little pilot holes in the granite around the base and stick em in to shine thru the top? Hummm.

I don't have anything to offer but a word of caution. I've read more than one post that said those sinks, which are made of tempered glass have blown up without notice. Luckily, folks weren't in their direct line of fire, but the force was strong enough to leave glass chards in the walls. Regardless of how "cool" they look, they are not safe and I'd recommend you find another product to use especially if you have children. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but what's the alternative?

You will also have a terrible time with water spots on a clear glass. Every time you use it you will have to practically hand dry the sink if you want to avoid them. I hadn't heard of them exploding, but that would be enough to scare me away from using them. There are plenty of other vessel sinks with more or similar wow factors. There are stunning sinks made of all types of metals, natural stone, and gorgeous shapes in porcelain. Use a large, heavy glass vase on the vanity if you want that green color, or glass tile that color for accents.

Here is the link to the last thread I've read about this, but I also forgot to mention that I used to have a Pyrex Casserole Dish (used to being the operative word here) that I would use for a specific casserole I like to make. One day the dish was in the oven, full of casserole and I heard a loud "KABOOM", guess what? Yup, it had exploded in the oven. Maybe it's over reacting, but I was so angry and upset I threw every Pyrex piece I had in the trash. I avoid tempered glass when ever possible. Enough said, just please be careful about the choices you make.

I just read the posts on that link about the Century exploding shower doors. It's enough to make me want to get a shower curtain instead. I had no idea they could shatter just like that. That's one thing you don't want to worry about while being stark naked in a shower or bath. Several children were badly cut and scarred by exploding glass as they were in the tub, one with a cut an inch deep. One post mentioned laminated glass that wouldn't do that. It's supposed to be the same sort as that used on a windshield. Would anyone have info on that type of glass?

Thank you all for your posts about the dangers of glass. The way this sink is constructed it is 7 layers of thick glass. I don't think it will be an issue. But I admit, it is something to think about. However It takes me forever to find something that I like. And gosh darn-it I will die by my decision! Plus I am getting a super duper deal on the sink! LOL oh well, now, for color choices????

    jjazzy,

I have seen this same sink and found it again - link below. It seems quite a bit less from Sinks Gallery...

I seriously doubt there will be any issues with "exploding glass". I have had one of our glass vessel sinks in our powder room for over ten years and it's simple to keep clean (glass cleaner). I suppose spotting would be different depending on how "hard" your water is, but we definately don't clean ours out after every use...

    I say go for it!

As someone else who obsesses over colors I understand your problem. But... you are going ultra modern. I'm not sure what your Danze ribon faucet is? Maybe the Sirius line?
This is very modern and would work great with your sink.

What is the table (cabinet, counter, ...) you are mounting this fantastic sink on. Do you already have a counter, or will it also be new? If you don't need storage underneath I'd go for an incredibly simple shelf mount to show off the sink in all its elegant simplicity. Maybe a slab of ming green marble or thassos white marble if you like classic? Truly new, consider white resin with green glass shards embedded, or maybe green with another color which you can pick up in walls or elsewhere.

What is the floor or is that changing too? If you aren't already committed. There are some fantastic large format glass tiles out there that might be terrifically modern and cue to the sink.

You might find something in lighting to solve your problem by lighting from above with some kind of micro spot on the sink/plumbing/top. Check out Tech lighting

    good luck

That sink if fabulous! Love it!

We went with a frosted glass because we thought it would hide water spots. Had a mirror sand-blasted on the border to match. Selected a dark granite for the counter with color inclusions of both the vessel and wall covering.

Jazzy, I love that sink! I have a frosted glass sink and still get water spots. However, by experimenting, I found that rain-ex will keep this from happening. Im also using it on my chrome fixtures. We have extremely hard water and I am always wiping it up off my granite, sink, everything to keep them from forming.
So go for it. Post pics when its in. This is a sink after my own heart.

Flying high you win the prize I looked all over the Internet and could not find the sink. You did, that is it! See the site you found shows the sink to be a more green rather then blue. I also see the sink is 82lbs. The guy that I purchased it from said 35lbs but the way he was struggling I said no way. When he put it into my car yesterday the back of my van went down. Yikes! Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I couldn't decide between the square or the round and I am still kicking it around. But the square is in my trunk. I wanted something ultra modern different and I think I got it. We got a super deal 439.00 including all the drain plumbing. I tell ya if you look hard enough there are local people trying to keep their doors open so give them a chance. There are others that won't get off their %$#. I ran into that yesterday too. Oh it is so frustrating some of these snooty shop owners. Oh gosh I am getting off topic.
fnmrboberts thanks for sending your picture over I like the coloring you used and I also liked to see the example of the dark counter and a dark cabinet that was a great idea to repeat the frosted treatment on the mirror.
Profrip Yes your right the Sirius line. I have made no definite plans on anything as far as color. It is such an issue. I like your thoughts on the white counter with the chips of green however those type of counters are a throwback to the old mica counters and I just can't wrap my head around doing that however I do like the idea. The only permanent decision would be this sink, which reads very green.
dolfanz thanks for the comments on the upkeep and the rain-ex good point. I generally leave a stack of rolled white towels at each sink and I think we will have to get into the habit of using them for a quick wiping it out. I think I need to start a new thread "show me your bathrooms that used green!" I would like to do something different on the back wall behind the vanity. When I walk into my finished bathroom I want to be giddy like a school girl! My tile decisions could make or break that experience.

Jazzy, check out this faucet, how great would this look with that sink?

dolfanz that is a very cool faucet, I had seen it before but that was before I had picked out this sink. I will look into it to see if it will work with the set back and height. Thanks! Price certainly looks good if thats what their going to sell it for.

I plan on getting this for my self. They are custom, so you can get any size you like. They also sell a shelf version if you don't like pedestal. Any color of caesar stone suit your instincts?

This was the kind of surface I was thinking looked modern.
Considered red and white for kitchen but in the end ended up with granite, but way nice granite.

profrip that is a surface I should consider I see they say it is 4 x harder then granite. I would go with the white. I grew up in Fla. and we have terrazzo down here and although they are trying to bring it out as a new product, not so to me! It is all over South Fla. Although I will admit the colors they are using are better these days
