'farm sink' for bathroom

I'm trying to decide between a small farm type sink and a pedestal. Does anyone have a picture of a sink like this in use? I love my big kitchen sink and think I would like a small one for the bathroom although I had originally planned a pedestal.

Oh, yeah! Nice. Looks too much like a kitchen, though. I need to think on this a bit. I know the perfect idea will come to me as soon as I buy the pedestal sink.

We just put in an IKEA Lillangen sink in our small basement bathroom. It has a farmhouse shape and comes in three sizes. We have the mid-sized one. I absolutely love it! The bathroom is not completely done, but I have a few photos up.

I meant to add that I started out toying with the idea of using our spare Domsjo kitchen apron sink in our basement bath. That got ruled out because I worried the Domsjo was too deep for the space. The Lillangen has a similar vibe, but is much more petite and fits the space.

If you do decide to pursue the farmhouse sink, HD used to have a nice little ~24" fireclay sink from Pegasus, I think, and a vanity to match. I don't know if it's still available, but it seemed very decent quality for the price.

pickle2, I'm assuming your sink has a back piece on it and the center faucet space is taller?? And would you believe that's the SAME FAUCET I'm going to use but in ORB! The farm house sink I want doesn't have that piece in back so I'll have to have some sort of counter or a little build out. Then I could have used a wall mount faucet. GRRRRR. I need to make 4 more kitchens and two more baths to use up all my ideas that I love and the stuff I bought in the planning stages. Can you post a link for that sink so I can get a good look at the whole thing?
writersblock, I don't know if I saw it a HD web site or not. I did see a couple that might work. I also saw one in Menard's today. It had a shallow wide sink that wasn't what I had in mind. I didn't take my camera because I didn't think I'd need it.
If I can make up my mind, I'll see if my carpenter will make something. I'm sure he can and it will be cheaper than anything I buy already made. And it will be what I want. I have about 3 months but I know that time can go fast especially if things aren't working out.

I really like the look of this RH setup in the link.

wolfgang80, I think that's either the same thing or very similar to the one I saw in Menard's today. Wish I would have sketched it. I saw one in maple with more of a frame look to it on line somewhere. I did print that one off thinking my carpenter would make it in about an hour. I'd have to put a counter on it so I had somewhere for the faucet. It's OK, though. Then there will be a landing spot for toothbrush, etc.

Yes, the center area is raised for the faucet. The sunken back section is great for putting toiletries.

That is so funny about the faucet!! I think you'll really like it. It's so beautiful with a farm-style sink. The water seems to arc out a bit more than a regular faucet, but the Lillangen is only 16" deep and contains the flow fine.

Here's the link to the Lillangen sink. It comes in 15 3/4", 23 5/8", and 31 1/2". It also comes with a bunch of accessories, including towel hooks, stainless shelf, and a soap dish. Then you decide what kind of cabinet you want for it. Mine is made of 2 end units, legs, and a base cab. Including sink, it was around $220.

Yes! I like! Choosing again........UGH! I get so confused at the IKEA site I never choose anything. I am not used to buying cabinets by the piece until I have enough to make someting. I could do it, I suppose, but it takes a while. Do you have any pics of yours straight on?

    This would work, too.

So now I'm far, far away from the pedestal I started out looking at.

I'll try to take a head-on shot, but my bath is tiny. I'm not sure if I'll be able to get it all in a frame.

You'd mentioned that you had a good carpenter. In your case, I think I'd buy the Lillangen sink and have him build a pretty frame like the RH one for it. I love the Lillangen sink. I think it looks high end and feels lovely. But if I could get a different base for it, I would. The IKEA cab works fine for me in the basement (I have the kitchen and master bath renovations coming, and I couldn't spend too much time or money on it.)

I guess I'll keep collecting possible pictures and have something made. And there's always the second hand stores and "antique" stores. I saw a little table today that would have been the right size but it just didn't look right. There was also a Mission table but it was too much for its condition. Maybe I'll take a road trip to HD and Lowe's. I don't like looking there because it's farther away than I want to run every week or two. I do know I saw some tile at Lowe's last fall that I'd like to look at again. But Menard's is much closer and they are getting in more cool stuff all the time. And eBay has some really nice glass tile cheap. So much stuff. So little money.

We've been looking at the idea of a farmhouse type sink for our bath, too. I've found some interesting options at Signature Hardware, including some wooden legged console vanities that look interesting for our rustic home.

I see this thread has been bumped up. I've been using the Lillangen sink a lot lately so I thought I'd add a quick review.

The Lillangen has been acting as my main sink ever since our kitchen demo. It is amazing. I love that the bottom of the sink is flat. I can put mugs, small plates, small potted plants, etc. in the sink. The sink is large enough to use as a laundry sink to soak lingerie or a single item of clothing. All of the included accessories are useful. The back ledge is perfect for toiletries.

I realize that most people won't be using a bathroom sink to do all of these things. However, this is the only sink in my house that is versatile enough to do anything I ask of it. I can't imagine how difficult my life would be right now if I only had my traditional basin and pedestal sinks. And it really looks cute to boot.

mabeldingeldine, I ended up with your sink or one very like it. My carpenter will make a table like wolfgang80's link to RH. Still the faucet like pickle2.
I have tile in the shower. The old shower got ripped out today. We're using a garden hose in the basement;-) But it won't be forever and I have roughed it worse than that. I think I will be papering somewhere around the middle of next week. I want to paper before cabinets get put in. It will be so much easier. My carpenter is going on vacation during that time and it will give me an opportunity to do My Thing!
    Closer, ever closer.

I know this is too late for your installation, but this is one of my favorite farmhouse sink vanity combos. I am considering the Fairmont black 48 inch vanity for my bathroom renovation. This line is very expensive, though, so we'll see..
