Hand towel bar or hook

Which did you choose, and where did you place yours? I used to have a ring type holder (on wall) for hand towel, but found that it was a bit far to wipe hands and water would be dripping everywhere. Now I am trying to find another type (maybe 8" bar), but can't figure out if it would be too much to place between the light switch and the outlet.

What worked best for you?

I like having towels to dry my hands near by, so I use keep a towel tray/holder right on the vanity counter next to the sink. I also use smaller "finger" towels, so not to take up too much room on the counter.

I tried the tray/holder thing, but that does NOT work with kids and DH. The towel is never where it should be.

Hey mari not to hijack, but you'd texted me re: motiv. I didn't have a chance to text back (phone battery isn't holding a charge well today).

We still haven't put up the towel bar, tp holder or hooks, so I couldn't tell you how the stuff holds up first-hand, but it seems to be decent quality (nice weight to it). Let me put it to you this way, the store we got it from wouldn't sell it if it was crap, nor would our salesguy have steered us toward it for our guest bathroom (we've bought from him before, and will do so for the other bathrooms).

Hijacking in this case is allowed, LOL

Thanks. I wanted to get her some bathroom accessories and thought Motiv might not be a bad idea. Which line in Motiv did you get? I saw a place online that had different lines??? Not sure if it's the same, but it did say Ginger/Motiv.

I think it's called sine. Our sales guy really pushed us to go with certain things (like the Cifial faucet)--good quality at good price points, at least when compared to some of the other stuff we liked! We really didn't "have a choice." He said get this, so we did. LOL

He's not an advocate of spending more than needed for a guest bath (get the spendier/fancier things for "the baths where you begin and end your day" he's fond of saying), but would steer us away from something if he felt it was garbage or just not worth the $.

I was actually looking at Sine today online for mother. She's going to like the pieces.

Was checking Surface and Kubic for me (handtowel holder). I need one that's 8". I really don't like rings, but these have a little curve to them so might work.

I'm the opposite to your guy! I want the nicer stuff in the half bath because that's where most guests tend to use. The kid's bath is what overnighting guests will use so that's second nicest, lol

Mine...well, let's just say I need to do A LOT of work in there one day! But not now.

Well, our guest bath is downstairs, so the only people using it would be overnight guest like my parents (I'm so sad that DH's parents never got to see or use the "new" bathroom) or friends--when we finally furnish and use the family room. Our hall bath upstairs will see much more day-to-day use, as will the master bath.

Glad your mom will like the sine pieces. They seem fine to me. I'm sure there's other stuff I'd really go gaga over, but I am happy to avoid spending any more $ than we already did on that bathroom.

So the question once more, where would you put your hand towel? Nearer the sink? The nearest position in the half bath is so close to the switch and outlet that I don't know if it will look cluttered :-(

I'm sure the Sine is probably on par with Surface. I figure since we bought the Surface mirror and lights, I should stick with the hand towel piece in that line...or maybe not!lol

We didn't get anything to put on the wall next to the sink, at least not yet. We're putting a towel bar where the old one was (on the wall opposite the vanity, under the window). If we feel we want something right next to the sink, we'll order the small towel bar that they make (they don't have a ring for this series, but do make a small bar).

Like you, I don't know how well that would work on the wall adj to the vanity/sink since it's a small space and the light switch/outlet is there.
