my beach themed tablescape

OK. Let me warn y'all up front. This is NOT a minimalist table.

My 5 year old DGS helped me set this table up and his motto is "More is More"!!

He had such fun and I had such fun watching him have such fun! So......

These are the dishes I found at Marshall's. I fell in love with the shape of the saucers. The wooden bird in the middle I've had forever. The oars we bought when we first bought our little john boat. 99% of the seashells we found on our long walks on the beach. The other 1% friends and family found and brought to us. The blue stemware are from TJ Maxx. Placemats, napkins, sea glass, shiny colored glass, and scallop shell looking candleholders are from Dollar Tree. Flatware from Ross 2 years ago. Brown runner in the middle is a sheer curtain panel found at GW. DH bought the little stained glass sailboat in Hilton Head, SC. 3 years ago. Fish S/Ps are from Target. Starfish S/Ps are from Cracker Barrel. Already had candles.

Hope you enjoyed looking. It certainly is a FULL table!!! LOL

Betty, I think your DGS is REALLY helping you! This is your best table ever, in my opinion! I LOVE so many things about it! (again, glad I clicked on the pic and went to Flickr to see more). What a terrific idea to use the oars and that bird goes so well with them. The colours you used are so vibrant. Those shell dishes are fantastic and love the saucers too! All the little items scattered around make the tablescape so interesting. Oh, I could go on and on but best leave some items for others to comment on! Just loving it, Betty! Pass it on to your DGS too!

I too am very impressed! You two sure pulled the colors right off that wonderful bird and spread them all over your table. How perfect that you had the oars to use on it too. Those dishes are darling, such unique shapes and just perfect for your theme. I never see things like those cute starfish candle holders at my Dollar Tree--those are perfect. And all the cute salt and peppers too! I think your GS has a real talent for tablescapes, and Grandma is an excellent "enabler"! Clap! Clap! Clap!

    That is a beautiful table!
Love the dishes--expecially the (cup and) saucer.
I too me a while to find the starfish S/P, but I finally did!
I don't do table setting like ya'll do, but I certainly
enjoy looking at them. I have always loved pretty dishes
and glassware, But 'out-talk' myself on buying them! LOL
I have too much (clutter--) 'good stuff' now--grin.
I keep buying at Goodwill, etc. but mostly use for the Garden junk forum.
When you no longer have room indoors,
    head outside!

    Betty,
OMG!! That is one detailed table!! Love it - the dishes are perfect for your beach setting. Love the shell saucers. And I cant believe you have oars on your table - that is so perfect. Those big shells and the fish S&P holders are really great.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Your little GS may just have a future in designing tablesettings! What fun for both of you that he enjoys this now, you are making wonderful memories.
I had a great time 'finding' all the tiny stuff you mentioned. There is nothing I can add that hasn't been said but this is definitely a big Summer WOW table.

You guys are probably ready to throttle me, I'm way behind in adding album photos for you. I do have them saved in my file, including this one of course. I just need to work on the album. I'm sorry to have been such a dud lately!

Betty, thanks for the happy moment. One can't help but smile looking at this table.

Thanks, Everyone for the kind words.

DD, I've studied so many of your tablescapes, trying to learn what your secrets are. So praise from you makes my day! Thanks

Luvs, I looked at my table again after reading your post and discovered that there is one color I didn't use on my table that was on the bird.......PINK!!! The very next time Eli is here we will get right on it! LOL

Nonacook, I am out of space inside now! I've talked myself out of dishes a lot, but sometimes something really grabs you (like these saucers) and DD was there with me encouraging me to get them. I'll blame her!

Mo, DH and DS were talking about floating down the river again to fish and DH said they could do it but would need to get the oars off of my table. The only word out of my mouth was "NOT!"

Jay, Thanks. You have to train them while they're young! Right? I'll be sure to deliver that hug from you.

Karen, To have one of my tables included in your photo album is the GREATEST!!!!!! WOO-HOO!!!
Every time I see it there I'll remember just how much fun the 2 of us had that day. They grow sooo fast. I treasure these fleeting moments.

Kathleen, Compliments from you mean a lot to me. You set great tables every day AND fill the dishes with beautiful food! I'm nowhere near that good yet!

Oh boy! This is so pretty! I love the colors and the breezy feeling it evokes. Your table and DD's have given me lots of ideas for my sister's birthday table. I'll be asking for help from you all :)

Betty, what a wonderful table!!!!!! I love the fresh colors of sea blue & white. The browns from the oars, flatware handles and the runner add just the right touch of beach sand color. Your sweet GS must have been so proud to have helped with such a fine table! I love the addition of the sea glass. I can almost hear the waves :~)

Betty its in the album, along with all the others I've been needing to add.
Here's the link to the main Tablescape Album (which is on my own "front page" list instead of being where it belongs in the Holiday albums. I can't figure a way to move the whole thing easily. However there is a tea setting album among our Holiday ones.)

Anyway, this Tablescape album has sub albums for the seasons, as well as things on the main page. Including some tea settings there too. Betty, yours is in the Spring and Summer album. Think that is where most of them went that I had saved up to get in.

    hugs, Karen

    Good Morning Ladies,

Eli spent the night with us and I just finished reading him all of your sweet comments. He seemed very proud of himself and pleased with all y'all's praise.

Karen, I took him to your photo album and read him your comments there, also.

Stay tuned for more tablescapes using my "Free" helper. I may even get the others involved!

    Have a great day,

    Betty & Elijah
