My mother has just moved into a condo which has a subzero 48" side-by-side unit. It always makes a constant hum as if the the compressor never turns off. The only time the hum stops is when either the fridge/freezer door is open.

The hum is quite loud and makes my kitchen-aid I have at home sound quite as my compressor only turns on when needed.

Is this normal?
