tell me why do you love your bottom freezer, which model

I have a GE Profile stainless bottom freezer frij and several visits by repair folks from the independent store where purchased and the bona fide "GE" tech, have not been able to resolve the problem of produce freezing in the produce bins. the temp is consistently is 30 degrees or lower. both repair guys said it's 'poor design' and the solution was to cover 1/2 the return vents on each side with tape. It hasn't made any difference.

If I return this frij as a 'lemon', I would like to know if there is any mid priced model that doesn't have this problem.

I love my Jenn-Air bottom freezer, CD FD fridge. The freezer temp is always zero and the fridge is always 37 (unless DH leaves the door open:(. There is a digital readout and I can adjust the temp if I want to. Produce stays fresh for about 10 times longer than in my old Whirlpool SxS and the produce drawers don't freeze. One is fruit, the other is veg and apparently they are different temps (but who knows?) The deli drawer, below the produce drawers, has been known to freeze anything at the way back of the drawer, so I know it is colder back there. Then I found you can adjust the temp in that drawer from coldest (where it was) to less cold. Haven't had that problem since I moved the little thingie away from "coldest." I love this refrigerator. The KA is almost identical: they are both made by Amana.

I have had a Maytag Ice2O FD bottom freezer for a year and have never had trouble with it.

We have the Samsung French Door Bottom Freezer and realy really like it. #1 in consumer satisfaction per JD Powers for 2 or 3 years in a row. Well designed and laid out.

Maytag Ice2O. You can put a huge trays of food right in the freezer. It also has sliding, removable baskets which give you even more room if needed. The french door style also provides the ability for larger items to be stored in the fridge because it does not have a wall down the middle of the unit like a side by side. The only downfall, which we have long since gotten used to, was having less space on the doors shelves for condiments and other bottled goodies. The amount of room in the fridge more than makes up for this though. So, we now keep that second bottle of pickles on a shelf....

The unit has a lot of other really nice features, take a look at one. All in all, best refrigerator I have owned.

We have a maytag bottom freezer. We've had it,maybe, a year and had no problems. The interior is very flexible. You can ,pretty much arrange it to suit yourselves. We like it a lot and find it very convenient. I think it woud be helpful to you to hear from people who have the same make as you have.

I also have the Jenn Air CD FD bottom freezer, and love it for exactly the same reasons as raynag: freezer stays at consistent temp, fridge stays at consistent temp, veggie drawers don't freeze things. And I can find the food: I don't lose things anymore.

I appreciate all the feedback. today a GE tech came to install parts on my Cafe range......a long story.
When I told him the 'tape solution' had no effect on the temp in the frij produce drawers he said no, no, not tape. there is a 'kit'; apparently a 'tower' that has a seal at the bottom (mine has no seal)that prevents additional cold air coming in from the freezer compartment. He said the previous GE tech should have known about it.... so I look forward to yet another service call on June 5. It's discouraging that appliances are no longer 'plug and play'. I never envisioned having multiple issues with brand new up to date appliances!

Wow, another vote for the Jenn-air FD (I have the reg depth) we recessed our wall. It keep it at 39 (unless DH or adult kids(when they visit) don't shut the left door first. Love it. Especially the large deli drawer which I use one side for a whole tray of eggs.

I'm glad to see happiness regarding the Jenn-air. I am contemplating this one. I am also contemplating a GE Cafe range but after some of the posts on here, I may need to rethink that one. If any of you have this combo, I would be interested in knowing how the handles and finishes match between the Cafe range and the Jenn-air FD Ice2O
