Using large format stone in the shower. Some observations...

I have a hick up on my current job - a real pimple in the finished look.

We have set the floor with a 1/4" per foot grade to our Quick Drain USA channel drain. We used 1'x2' China Black Slate set in a half stagger pattern (sealed with Aqu Mix Enrich n' Seal) and skipped the recommended Jolly profile detail in my assembly. I like the look of the slate meeting the drain clean - no extra profile. There is only one grout seam at the drain edge.

Because of the tiles natural cleafting I am finding we get a puddle aprox 3"x10" at the very last tile. This tile does have grade but the water beads on the tiles outside edge and this little puddle that is created (the pimple on the job) stays put.

I was thinking of a slight blow to the tiles edge and chip a small section of Slate away. Trying to crack one sediment layer only. This seams like a risky step and I have never tried it. Thoughts here?

I was thinking a safer approach would to ease the slates edge and hopefully this solves the problem.

Mongo, Bill, Others - can you help me out? Any insight?

I post a picture when I'm back on site.

Thanks!
